During the Vic Open in January, the proposed masterplan wasn't a done deal, and a prominent office bearer wasn't too keen on it. Thankfully, a few players made their similar views felt.

One of the internal views was that a particular office bearer was looking to "leave his mark", despite the short sightedness of some of the suggestions.

At a recent game there, I didn't garner any info that seemed an update on this. Anyone heard any more?

TT,JJJ

What heppened at 3 and 12 ought to convince enough people not to go ahead with the rest of what would be a disaster.

I think you'll find G.Grant did the work there G69. Many of the Grant's hold membership at WGC. Trevor, Graeme and others.

#18 is likely to become a par 4, and #16 a par 5, with a good increase in length. There is approx 50m behind that green. I am sure that a waterway, which currently exists as an underground storm water pipe, is slated for exposition, becomming a 'burn-like' feature, which thread across #1, #2 and #9, becomming a factor for the tee-ball for the very long hitter. This is the least likely change to occur from what I can gather.

Not sure what else is due for change but I am playing with a WGC member today, and will ask that he bring his copy of the master plan.

mac - you've spend so long in NZ that even your typing has caught a Kiwi accent. Can you tell me what 'heppened' to #3 and #12. #3 was the bunkering inside the dogleg? The bunkering on #12 (outside of the dogleg, protecting the 16th tee) looks new, but what else was changed, and when did it take place?

MatthewM, its now clear who the man is behind "Stevie Wonder". Did you fail to notice the new bunkers on the inside of 3?

Graeme Grant is a member at Woodlands, but I'm pretty sure Trevor is at Commonwealth.

I played Woodland's for the first time in March. Boy is that green a pric. Birdie first time, tripple the next. What was the dogleg like before the bunkers were added as I've only seen the hole with bunkers.

Great golf course.

Agree. Great golf course totally underated. If Woodlands was in Sydney it would be Top 10 in Oz. 3rd is a good hole, but agree its a prick of a green. Last time I played there pin was back right, hit wedge in which rolled off the green back right. Absolutely dead from down there and took 6. 5th is a great hole, next time Im hitting 7 iron off the tee.

The 3rd is a great green. From a good position just inside 90-100m, it is not a difficult shot. It is the knowledge of what happens to you if you don't execute it correctly that intimidates and causes errors, resulting in some fun third shots. At the end of summer at its firmest, don't miss the green. At this time of year, there is a little more margin for recovery.

Does anyone have an update on the proposed changes and whether they are going to go ahead? Or has the whole thing been binned?

i have a copy of the masterplan on my PC at home.

It was current about 2 months ago.

Truely horrific stuff if it does go ahead.

So what are the proposed changes?

Is what MattM said in post # 5 accurate?

Oh for #$%^s sake why must $%#@ boards try and 'leave a mark' or legacy as they pass through... Leave the #$%^ing great tracks alone...

Next thing will be the Yarra Yarra resort, with the clubhouse turned into a Casino and resort style re-bunkering and lakes carved for the earth required to create the mounding...

Woodlands should have a good hard look at what NGS did to Huntingdale.

/End rant.

Look foward to seeing the plan Thommo.
