mine is still pushing on

however i can see this saturday will be the last one for quite awhile

extract from Golf Australia web site 27/3: It is Golf Australia’s recommendation that, based on the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services directive issued as part of the Victorian Government’s Stage 2 restrictions regarding COVID-19, all golf clubs and facilities should close as soon as practicable until April 13, 2020.

The directive that prohibits social sports gatherings applies to golf clubs and facilities, which are classified as ‘recreational facilities’ under clause 5 of the directive. A copy of the directive is located here.

Like in any war there are lots of mixed messages coming down the line from the controlling generals in head quarters who cannot agree, some are saying close everything golf is banned, others are saying golf can continue its good for our lungs and health to breath in fresh air, others saying golf can continue with restrictions, because it will be good for health.

All confusing....

oh well at least tomorrow will be a sunny day to take my grandson fishing. (unless fishing is banned too)

if you are landbased fishing and socially keeping your distance from anyone you fine

All Public boat ramps have been closed

You can't, they don't fit.

You can fit a pool noodle section on the base of the flag stick so the balls don't fall far down into the hole. It works!

I can spell reasonably well, even if in American at times. I cannot type well , so please look for the key I intended to use within one key of the strange one I used.

Correct - my club had them in place on Friday and they worked just fine.

Bacchus Marsh Is shut  closed 6pm on Saturday Arvo..

This is just a part thing that was sent to my club:

The Board is obliged to do this under the following Victorian Stage 2 COVID-19 Chief Medical Officer directives:
• Non-Essential Activity Direction, and
• Prohibited Gatherings Direction

Both are dated 25 March 2020 and come under the Public Health and Safety Act (VIC) 2008. Penalties associated with non-compliance of the directives can be up to $100,000 for corporations.

The closure order is in effect until 13th April 2020 however it is anticipated that this will be extended out. In the meantime the course will go into “maintenance mode” so that once restrictions are lifted the course can be brought back to its current great condition as soon as possible. We will then no dought be asking on all members to come and support the club and help get the course back into its current condition."

So therefore i would say this mean the samething for other clubs out there in victoria

my understanding is even if you get access and no one is about and someone dobs you in the course would be at risk of recieving big fines that will bankrupt them in the end just for the sake of a person fluanting the rules..

do the club a favour and stay safe and stay at home

Best guestimates are this virus will blow away in about 6 months.

But the economic impact will last for next 18 to 24 months.

memberships will drop as people will have lost their jobs and hence golf membership will go.

Golf clubs will restructure to become leaner.

may see sell off of parts of course for housing (if anyone can afford a house)

even back to 9 holes, as people become more time poor and dont want to spend more time at course than they have to.

Clubs will merge together, and form bigger better clubs with common use of staff and ground staff.

certainly the Post CoVid era is going to be interesting.

These are all possibilities and some will suit some clubs more than others. One could say that golf was heading in that direction for lower tier clubs anyway. Fixed costs will still burden some clubs, ie 2 clubhouses, plant and equipment that is difficult to move around between locations etc

Ground staff headcount will be down to a skeleton crew of 4

A small admin crew will also be working

The latest govt bailout, paying employers to keep employees on the books, has a range of benefits.
- keeps them out of Centrelink and off the unemployed figures
- has them available to the employer even if just one day a week
- costs the govt the same either way
- keeps businesses going, not going to the wall.

It's a pity they don't pay pensioners that much.

You are in the demographic that's most at risk, why would they give you anymore money or entitlements than is necessary ?

Government versus your age group is a waiting game to simply minimize their outlay !

So true, GG.
