May as well start a thread as a time capsule for what is a developing threat to society.

As of today non essential travel within Australia is stopped. Holidays put on hold/cancelled. We personally have cancelled a trip to northern NSW and look like cancelling another trip in August to the Illawarra coastal region.

As of today I am unsure of how much longer I will be able to go to work. I will be doing everything in my power to prepare the course, so if the call is made to stay away, hopefully the prep will reduce some growth in the fine turf areas.

Greens, fairways, tees, green surrounds and collars will have growth regulator applied at heavier rates. Rough can grow and thicken up as we are sliding into autumn/winter.

I have sufficient leave to get through a couple of months at least, but there are others who are casual, that have no cover at all. Not covered through Workcover unless you catch the virus at work and can prove that.

Mental health will be the biggest worry of all. My 22 yo niece is terrified at what may come. Financial stress will trigger anxiety and fear of the unknown.

Just wanted to say my piece and I know the readers on here are a sensible lot.

Thanks for reading

Pen/Kingswood golf club have employed a full time security system, that intercepts every vehicle entering their property and scans the occupants for a heat signature and the potential of carrying the Covid 19 virus.

This is because one of their members has recently and unwittingly spread the virus amongst other members and his friends.

WOW !

It probably won't help because it takes days for symptoms to appear but you're still infectious to others in the interim.

while a number of clubs have closed, some course are also open with restricted conditions.

these include

  • mark own score card
  • preferred lie in bunker , no rakes in bunkers, smooth with feet.
  • cups upside down in holes so ball just sits under surface, so leave flag in
  • club house and bar closed
  • pro shop open limited - only using eftpos for payment
  • bring own drinks
  • groups of 3
  • 1 player per cart

You can't and I think Geoffrey got it mixed up with, no flags versus cups upside down...

Like in any war there are lots of mixed messages coming down the line from the controlling generals in head quarters who cannot agree, some are saying close everything golf is banned, others are saying golf can continue its good for our lungs and health to breath in fresh air, others saying golf can continue with restrictions, because it will be good for health.

All confusing....

oh well at least tomorrow will be a sunny day to take my grandson fishing. (unless fishing is banned too)

Provided you continually be at least 1.5m apart, don't travel anywhere that's not essential and stay home if possible.
