Got a leaky tap.  Replaced the tap valves.  No good.

Go to bunnings the guy says the "seat" has been damaged and needs to be replaced.

Some quick googling, seems like the thing to do, however I open up the tap and I don't see the old seat ? Is that correct.  Can a tap not have a seat ??

Please explain.

PS.  Have to shut the water off at the mains - no running water ATM.  Trying avoid the emergency call out if I can.

Anyone on here a plumber and can talk me though it ?

Is it possible that there is no seat installed in the taps ?

I'm not a plumber but have fixed a lot of leaking taps.  Where the tap washer sits is the seat.  This is almost always damaged  due to wear by people tightening the tap too much.

The tap seat needs to be resurfaced using a seat cutter. Alternatively buy another tap.

This is the drum. ^^^^^^

Doesn't everybody have a tap re-seater in their toolbox? Easy to use, inexpensive.
