HI Guys,

I'm Rick. I'm recently new to golf and have been playing for around 6-9 months now and love it! I've been able to improve a little bit I'm still a hacker (around a 30ish handicap) but slowly improving.

I have a few mates I play with but I want to start playing more often as mates have all got young kids and the like and are hit and miss about committing to regular play, where as I want to play all the time especially weekends!

Can anyone recommend any clubs to join or where to go to be able to connect with some like minded people / social golfers and meet some more playing partners? I'm from the north (Melbourne)

Thanks

That's only about once a month, isn't it?

Ricky, just join a golf club that's convenient for you.  You'll always have someone to play with and you'll get a real handicap.

Many clubs run competitions on both Sat and Sun.

Don't worry about it being a "competition".  You're really just competing against what you have done in the past, as is everybody else in the comp.

SGA play roughly every two weeks, a lot of good courses but of course that means extra outlay.

Future Golf have a decent number of events, slighltly lower quality, so more budget friendly.

The social golf club have fewer events, also play a few really premium tracks.

Italian Golf Association could be worth a look, play some nice tracks.

Otherwise maybe try one of your nearby VGL clubs http://www.vicgolfleague.com.au/

RB you’ve just talked yourself into joining a local golf club, play whenever you like and regular play will no doubt improve your game. Do your homework there’ll be several options to try out , welcome to golf
