Yep, during the 3rd round it was said constantly that they had moved the tee times forward due to forecast storms. You could NOT have missed it if you had watched the 3rd round.

Yep.

100% heard, groups of 3, earlier tees due to possible weather.

But.

No mention I saw of FTA coverage earlier.

Nor, did I appreciate the impact of earlier tees vs normal times and telecast etc.

I doubt I'm not the only moderately interested golf viewer that had the entertainment factor from final round suspense, and Tiger comeback, lost, ruined.

But.

Doubt channel 9 care.

Or PGA.

Or anyone really.

Are we set to see another era of Tiger domination? Tiger never lacked self belief pre back issues and media frenzy around his infidelity; he’s now proven to himself and the rest of the golfing world that he’s far from a spent force in the majors. Plenty of guys had the chance to take this Masters by the scruff of the neck - Koepka, Cantlay, Shauffele, DJ, JDay, Molinari, Finau - but none of them did - only Tiger stood up.

There are little amphitheater’s all round Augusta, the noise they generate is phenomenal. It is a hilly site, lots of elevation changes. The greens look flat on tv, yet most of us would struggle to 3 putt most of them. Plenty of trees to be stuck behind if you miss the fairway and pine straw.

10,14,15, 17,18 all uphill. Does get warm around there too.

Rain screws them up a bit, leaving up and downhill putts short.

Tiger hits a draw 13,;then fade on 18 he had it on a string. Plenty of areas to come unstuck. Saw one guy putt off the 3rd green a few years ago, how does a pro do that......

Jon. You cannot seriously be suggesting that The Masters is the weakest Major?

87 invitees which include any of the former champions that wish to tee it up for the week. Cut on Friday to those within 10 of the lead and ties, about 50 %

And how many amateurs this year, seems they all made the cut too ?

Its is a small field YES

Weakest  mmm  maybe not.

The top 11 players in the Official World Golf Ranking are all in the 2019 Masters field, yet none of them have ever won a green jacket. That list includes four-time major champion Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, owner of three major titles, and the World’s No. 1 and No. 2-ranked golfers: Justin Rose and Dustin Johnson.

Only acouple of ways to pre qual for this one, so unless you're invited or have already won it you have to wait by the mailbox early in the new year :)

Best manicured piece of land in the world and a great tournament, marginally better than the PGA. Way behind the Open and US open imo.

Jon...

The top 50 in the world are exempt from qualification and invited, surely that’s a pretty strong field.

It's the weakest field by a long way. Having said that, the leaderboard on this one was epic.

Best major to watch.

I think that the field is as strong as any other major given the various qualifying criteria. Agree with Goldy it’s the best major to watch. It’s probably the hardest major to win though. The build up and the sickly-sentimental media frenzy that surrounds this tournament must place enormous pressure on the players. Those that are strong deal with it; those that aren’t dunk shots in the water. The other thing I reckon would be tough would be the crowds - roars coming from all over the place would be hard to ignore as well.

It’s The Masters at Augusta National. The top 50 plus invited guests. It’s the best Major. It has the craziest greens. The Open and US Open are on tough, penal courses that demand strong tee to green play. But the greens are not like Augusta.
I would think it is far from the weakest Major.
But imo I would only place The Open Championship at the same level.
It’s The ******* Masters Gerry!!!!

Jon...

Is this a question or a statement?
If it's a question and you're looking for an answer, that answer is 6.
If you're looking for your statement to be corrected, it will be that of those 6, 4 made the cut and 2 didn't.

But your statement still stands - it was such a easy tourney that any young amateur can compete against this weak field, except the ones who didn't actually make the cut. Then, the ease of it all is backed up by the fact that 62 players made it to the weekend, which again, as stated is pretty much half of 87.

I think for me the Masters has the most mystique because it was Greg Norman’s Moby **** and he never quite got there. I had over a decade in my youth watching near miss after near miss early on Monday morning each year, culminating in 1996. Funnily enough when Tiger blitzed the field in 1997 I sort of lost interest in golf for awhile because I knew Norman’s Masters years were over.
However, the best viewing tournament is the Open when it’s firm and fast, watching the ball run 50m and shots being shaped into greens. The best three Opens in the last few years have been Liverpool when Tiger won then Muirfield and last years at Carnoustie. So much better than watching guys bomb 5 irons high into greens and stop them pin high
