Box Hill Gc

I'm considering having a look at joining Box Hill GC. Primarily due to locational proximity and its practice facilities. Also kinda bored with Southern.
Any opinions on how /if the drainage has improved at Box Hill? Playability in winter??

What happened to Spring Valley, muffin man?
SV is on the list, but I'm getting a few negative reports on course condition and timesheet dramas.... So just keeping my options open

Best way is to play in the course in mid July /August after a heavy rain storm.
PS: Bring your cheque book to Keysy.
There is also a rumour going around that Rossdale GC are looking to buy Box Hill Golf Club.

Maybe not better but being closer and nearly the same $$, I'd settle for BH being nearly as good....

The members I have played with like it as a club... most recently I played with some new members who joined there for affordability and access. They were happy with their choice. I would say similar in style/ condition to Heidelberg but without the hills. I would see if you can get on and check it out. They seem to have a pretty active recruitment program

I play at Box Hill once a year or so. My dad is a member there. I always play in Summer so can’t comment on winter condition but I know that they have redone fairway drainage on a whole heap of fairways because they were out of play for that reason in January. They seem to have a pretty active maintenance program with regular works in play.

Thanks Deege, might just ring them tomorrow to ask for a hit this Sunday and have a looksie....

Box Hill is one of the few clubs in Melbourne with a poker machine business, the income from which probably provides members with a decent subsidy fee wise and would provide the club with a handy advantage over its competitors.

SV is a superior track to BH IMO. You'll have better conditioning also. Not sure of the price difference.

How does this course compare to Eastern Golf for those who have played both? What is joining fee like at Box Hill?
