Took the new 2019 Pro V1 out for a spin yesterday; it’s the best iteration of this ball yet. Feels superb off the Mizuno irons and equally as good off the M3 driver. I’d say consistently around 5 yards longer than the 2017 version.

How did you come to that conclusion?

The variance long to short on my lob wedge is greater than 5 yards, so you must be robot level dialed in to notice 5 yards of gain with a driver.

For the record, i used the new 2019 balls on the weekend as well and for me personally i noticed no difference what so ever to the old ones.

I've always wondered how we weekend warriors come to the conclusion that a bit of kit is 5 yards longer than a previous iteration.

Atmospheric and ground conditions could be responsible for that, let alone the myriad of other variables at play.

I based this assessment on hitting an 8 iron to the middle of the green on the 8th hole off the plates at Macquarie Links rather than a 7 iron.

So you based it off one shot with a mid iron?

Some other factors that might add (or take) 5 yards from an 8 iron might include; wind direction, wind speed, temperature. strike. spin. launch angle. club head speed, etc....

Did you measure any of these things? Especially the latter few.

I'm not trying to be facetious here. I just don't see how anyone can claim a ball (or any peice of equipment for that matter) is 5 yards longer without any form of raw data measurements.

Hey Monty, go and take a Bex and lie down petal; you’re getting all stressed out. The PGA Tour just called, they miss you!

Having to play off 2 or 3 all the time will do that to you

Funny you say that. I found the V1 2017 version was straighter off driver so tended to be less distance into the sh1t than other balls I tested / tried.

Can't comment on the 2019 version, haven't used or even seen one in the flesh.

Yes

inconsistent strike is probably the biggest factor.

That 1/10 centre strike with new ball A2019 vs 9/10 off heal hit with 2018 ball would be the difference between the 2019  ball being amazingly longer than last years model.

Tried the new TM TP on the weekend and found it played really well on all types of different shots. Hit it 20 + further on acouple of drives and carried it over hills that I usually don't !

Can't say it went much longer than normal but enjoyed the feel and gain on some shots.

for anyone looking for a cheaper ball I highly recomend srixon soft feel, it's long and straight, feels soft off the clubface and checks on greens, does not gave the same spin on short shots around the greens and is impacted by shots into the wind but in general is a very good cheap alternative.
