Welcome back butler. Come and have a hit with the group sometime. OB doesn't come if he can't bring his cart, and for some reason most of the courses we choose to play don't allow it.
Thanks Snappy, bit of a hike from SA haha

So the road back to singles got a little boost today when the club decided to assess my HC and make an adjustment due to how i have been playing in the last month. It's fair as far as I'm concerned as i have started to strike the ball a lot better over the last few week.
HC is now into 13.6 after the adjustment of which 2.0 was deducted. Daily HC will be 15 on the weekend so hopefully i can keep up the recent form and have a good one. I'll laugh if i come in with 44pts or something crazy again and I'm sure a lot of the ol boys will be pleased that my HC as reassessed.

Well done on your improvement.
I know this has been discussed elsewhere but looked at your handicap record today using the link in your signature and it looks to me like the system may have gone wrong. If I read it correctly when you have between 1 and 3 live scores your handicap should have been based on the best played to. After three rounds that was 15.9 which when multiplied by 0.93 would give you a handicap of 14.7. But instead your handicap stayed at 20.8.
All water under the bridge now so good luck with your return to single figures.

Standard Sunday update after my Saturday round and Sunday pennants match. Home deck, Slope 132 playing of a daily HC of 16 I had 38pts. Out in 22/39 OTS and then is all fell apart coming home with 16/47 OTS making for 86 OTS. The driver was all over the place Saturday but i think my length had hand in still being able to play above my HC. Today was a bit better with the driver and took me a while to get going in the Div 3 pennants but i managed to get up 3/2 after been down by 2 at the turn. A birdie at the 10th was the turning point and making my opponent putt a few 2 footers that lipped out really got under his skin. The team managed to get up 7 to 1 in a top of the table clash. Yesterdays round consisted of:
7x Pars
8x Bogeys
3x Doubles
3x FIR
4x GIR
32 putts for the day with 2x 3 jabs both on par 3's which was disappointing.
GA HC is into 13.1 and although i didn't play great all weekend i am happy with the progress that i am making. Still have a long way to go till i hit singles but i feel like i am tracking on the right path for now. Consistency with distance with my irons is coming back as i start to hit them better and today my control with the putter late in the match was really good.

Standard update after my Saturday round and Sunday pennants match. Home deck on Saturday, white tees, Slope 128 playing of a daily HC of 15 I had 34pts. Out in 17/43 OTS and then is all fell apart coming home with 17/46 OTS making for 89 OTS. The driver was all over the place again on the Saturday and Sunday. I think I'm trying to do to much with it and just need to focus on putting a good swing on the ball and playing to my usual shot shape. Yesterday in the pennants match I feel like i played average golf all day but manage to get up 3/2. As a team we halved the game which has seen drop to 2nd on the ladder with 1 game remaining that we must win to make the final. Unfortunately I'm unable to play the last round so I'm hoping the team gets up so we can have all 3 Divs in the finals and shoot for a clean sweep. Saturdays round consisted of:
6x 1pts and 1x scrub
1x Birdie
6x Pars
5x Bogeys
5x Doubles
1x Triple
4x FIR
6x GIR
34 putts for the day with 3x 3 jabs.
I was 100% from sand saves having 2 of them. Both Saturday and Sunday i played well out of the bunkers so I'm taking that positive away from the weekend.
GA HC remains at 13.1 and the plan for the next few weeks is to just put a good swing on the driver and keep it in spots where i have a shot into greens. With the SA Indigenous Championship coming up early April that is my biggest focus to just keep the ball in playable spots.

Had a hit in the mid week comp today off the whites, slope 128 and a daily HC of 15. After having a think after last weekends rounds i was just going to work on putting good swing on the club and just playing my natural shape without trying to play shots and shape balls they i wouldn't normally and it seemed to pay off. I had 42pts having 22/38ots going out and 20/43ots coming in with 1 scrub in there which was frustrating as it was on a very easy par 5 that i can generally reach in 2 and walk away with birdie. Todays stats:
1x scrub
1x Birdie
9x Pars
7x Bogeys
1x Triple (scrub)
5x FIR
7x GIR
31 putts for the day with 1x 3 jab (I count scrubs as a 3 jab)
GA HC now into 12.4. Hopefully i can keep up with the swing i was putting on it today and no get carried away with trying to blast it 300m every drive. Did get a few good ones out there today even with a much slower tempo than usual and just concentrating on getting it middled. The best for the day was between 290-295m, 463m par 5 and i had 165m to the middle for the second shot.

Bit late with the weekend update but here is. Only played on Saturday this weekend and have to miss the final round of pennants as i was attending Adelaide 500. Even though i was off early on Saturday it was bloody hot out there. MM off the blues so the slope was 132 and my daily HC was 14. I was tracking ok until i got to the 9th where i snap hooked one, got it back in play with 60m to the green and i bladed the hell out of it ending up over the back in green in the forks of a tree that took 2 to get out then another one to get on the green followed by a 3 jab and walking off with a 9. going out in 45 and came home with 43 for a 88ots and a net 74. The driver was the polar opposite of Thursdays round bar 2 holes were i hit really good drives on the 15th and 16th. The 16th is a 309m par 4 that i ended up 1m short of the front edge. Stats for the round were:
1x Birdie
7x Pars
6x Bogeys
3x Doubles
1x 9
2x FIR
6x GIR
33 putts for the day with 1x 3 jab
GA HC now into 11.9. Really not sure what was going on with the driver but haven't thought about it to much as I'm just going to keep working on putting a good swing on thing. The last 7 rounds have been in the 80's which I'm glad that there has been that consistency along with averaging 6 GIR per round for the last 7 rounds at home. If i can start bumping that up to 9 or 10 I think that i will reach singles quicker than i initially thought i would.

Stab in the mid week today off the whites, slope 128, daily HC 13 and had 36pts. I'm not sure what is going on with my driver but it is all over the place right not to the point where i have no idea where it is going to go when i step up on the tee block but some how I'm still managing to post respectable scores. I had 19pts on the front 9 with 2 scrubs, 1 of the was a lost ball that for the life of the group we have no idea where it went. We all seen it hit the tree and when we all walked up it was no where to be seen and no one was around. The back 9 i battled for 17pts inc 3x1pt holes. I think right now my length is saving me a touch off the tee to be able to get close enough with the 2nd that i can make the green a 2 putt for bogey or 1 putt for par. Stats from today: 36pts/85ots 40 out and 45 in
2x Birdie (1 to about a foot on a par 3 for NTP, though it was going in hahaha)
6x Pars
6x Bogeys
3x Doubles (1 was a scrub)
1x Triple (scrub on par 4 with a shot, the lost ball
1x FIR (was a 3w that i got under and went about 150m
6x GIR
30 putts for the day with 3x 3 jabs (2 scrubs i count as 3 putts)
GA HC now into 11.5 Really not sure what was going on with the driver but haven't thought about it to much as I'm just going to keep working on putting a good swing on thing. Again another round in the 80's making that 8 in a row on the home track and again 6 GIR. If i can start finding fairways i will start finding more greens or at least be on the fringes.

Regular stab in weekend comp off the whites, slope 128, daily HC 13 and had 36pts again. Driver was a bit all over the place again but not to the extend of the last 2-3 rounds. I had 15pts on the front 9 with 4 1pt holes which was frustrating. Almost slam-dunked the the par 3 6th, pitch mark would have been 15cm from the hole. The back 9 i I played reasonable bar a 1 hole (index 1) for 21pts inc 2x1pt holes and a eagle on the 14th, holed out from 70m after 285m drive straight down the guts. Stats from today:
36pts/85ots 44 out and 41 in
1x Eagle
1x Birdie
6x Pars
4x Bogeys
6x Doubles
2x FIR
5x GIR
31 putts for the day with 1x 3 jabs
Scrub free round
GA HC now into 11.1 My game from inside 100m today was really good. I focused on have clubhead speed through the ball and it made a huge difference compared to previous rounds. I really don't think that i am far off having a round or 2 in the 70's if i sort my bloody driver out. Im hitting it longer than i ever have, I'm just struggling with accuracy at the right now so I'm sure it will come eventually. Having a hit Monday as its a public holiday in SA and have a flagged round dropping off so finger crossed for a good one or i will go out .8

Another walk around the course today off the whites, slope 128, daily HC 13 and had 38pts. Driver was a bit better than the last few rounds so that was a positive to take from today. I had 19pts on the front 9 and 19 on the back 9 all in all it was a decent round bar the 2x 3 jabs and 2x doubles that i had on the back 9, there was really no need for them. Poor course management on my behalf. Stats from today:
38pts/83ots 19/40 out and 19/43 in
9x Pars
7x Bogeys
2x Doubles
2x FIR
8x GIR
30 putts for the day with 2x 3 jabs
Scrub free round again
GA HC will go out a little as a good flag is coming off (9.4) will have to wait until the card is processed. This makes 10 rounds in a row in the 80's and averaging 84.4 in the last 5 rounds. Personally i think this is huge after having a 4 year break and its a massive positive that there is some consistency with my game. I am still yet to find any time to practice and I'm still yet to have any lessons. I really think i could benefit from a lesson with the driver but i will see how it goes over the next few week before i book one.

Another walk around the course yesterday. We played stroke off the whites, slope 128, daily HC 13 and had nett 74. Driver was a bit better than the last few rounds so that was a positive to take from today. I went out in 43 and came home in 44. Was a bit of a mixed bag on the front 9 with some good golf but also some really bad golf in there. The back 9 was good bar 2 hole. 5 straight pars then a taking a 8 on the par 4 15th left a sour taste in my mouth. 16 and 17 i got up and down for pars only to step up to 18 and put it OOB right, distance and stroke drop down the fairway and then put that in the hazard to walk off with a 7. Super frustrating but oh well thats golf. 4x penalty strokes defiantly doesn't help ya round. Stats from today:
43/37 out 44/37 in = 87/74
1x Birdie
9x Pars
4x Bogeys
1x Doubles
2x Triples
1x Quad
4x FIR
8x GIR (4 front, 4 back inc 6 in a row)
30 putts for the day with 1x 3 jabs
GA HC back down to 11.2 I have 1 unfledged round before a 11.5 flag comes off then i will have a 10 unflagged rounds to really work on getting the HC down. At this stage i think i will be back to singles before winter. I can just feel that I'm not far away from having a few low ones. Also did a bit of digging and found that it had actually been 5 years without swinging a club which makes me feel a little better about how i am tracking. Plans for next few months is 1. get fitted correctly for a driver (either the F9 or M5 at this stage) 2. get a rangefinder as I'm stating to get some consistency back with the irons, while the GPS does an ok job with F M and B i think i would benefit from an exact distance.

So this afternoon i hit the range for the first time since returning to golf. The reason i went out there was because my driver has been super erratic so i got a large bucket and proceeded to hit balls with no real change no mater what tempo i was swinging at bar maybe 4 or 5 that went dead straight.
Turns out that i picked a good night to head out there as the pro was holding a junior session. About half way through the bucket he comes over and says "this is your problem" told me how to fix it and boom, my dispersion zone immediately became smaller, my flight and striking was more consistent and they were longgggggggg.
Turns out that on my down swing i was turning my shoulders/upper body back to the ball well before the clubhead and hands were back there which was causing a really bad slice or when i tried to adjust with my hands would often cause a block or nasty pull so i really work hard on delaying the shoulder/upper body turn back to the ball and it has done absolute wonders.
Having a hit tomorrow with the ADF boys on a course foreign to me so i will report back post round on how the driver went as well as the rest of my game. Also can't thank my pro enough for the tip.

Have played 3 rounds over the last 3 days, 2 on the home deck and 1 abroad at Barossa Valley GC all rounds were stableford. Daily HC @ BVGC was 12 and 13 for the 2 rounds at home. Pretty mixed bag from all three round to put it nicely. Still struggling with direction with the driver. Today was frustrating was 6 over through 10, played 3 really good holes to bring it back to 4 over through 13 then i think the 3rd round in three days caught up with me. Very tired swings in the last 4 holes and I really felt like i was unable to get any power in the swing and it really showed. Went bogey, bogey, bogey, triple, bogey and threw away what should have been a sub 80's round easily.
Stats from Friday @ BVGC:
45/16 out 43/16 in = 88/32
6x Pars
8x Bogeys
4x Doubles
3x FIR
4x GIR
30 putts for the day with 1x 3 jabs
Stats from Saturday:
45/16 out 43/19 in = 86/35
1x Birdie
7x Pars
5x Bogeys
5x Doubles
3x FIR
3x GIR
31 putts for the day with 2x 3 jabs
Stats from Sunday:
40/19 out 43/19 in = 83/38
2x Birdie
5x Pars
10x Bogeys
1x Triple (Scrub)
2x FIR
7x GIR inc 6 on the trot
34 putts for the day with 2x 3 jabs
GA HC should be back down to 11.1 have after today I think. I think i have 9 unflagged rounds dropping off from now so hopefully with a few good ones in there i will hit singles quicker than i thought.

Got out for a swing in the mid week this arvo. Daily HC 13 playing off the front tees, slope 128. Another really good round with a late fade out. 5 over the card through 16 only to go double, bogey and finish with 80 OTS. The bogey on the last was from 80m out dead centre of the fairway which was really frustrating but thats golf i guess, can't complain to much when you have 41 points haha
Stats from the round:
38/21 +3 out 42/20 in +5 = 80/41 +8
2x Birdies
8x Pars
6x Bogeys
2x Doubles (1 being a scrub)
4x FIR
6x GIR
31 putts for the day with 2x 3 jabs
I played the par 3's @ 3.0, par 4's 4.3 and really made a meal of the par 5's today playing them @ 6.3. For someone of my length i consider this very poor as I'm am more than capable of making all of them in 2 with driver+4i/5i. Having double, bogey, bogey, bogey on the 4 par 5's is just shocking for me.
I have 1 more round before the SA Indigenous Golf Championship and overall i feel like i am tracking in the right direction to really have a crack at winning it but as we know anything can happen on the day. GA HC is down to 10.4 which is the lowest since i have returned and now getting so close to being back at singles.
