One of my mates has a work colleague from Singapore coming to Melbourne next week and is keen for a game of golf with him. My mate is keen to take him to a half decent course (doesn't have to be tier 1) to give him a taste of Melbourne golf.

Any suggestions on courses and how my mate and his colleague could get on, I don't think money is too much of an issue.

I was thinking he could go through one of the deals sites there is always deals for courses like Southern, Keysborough, Sandhurst, Settlers or even Rossdale (if it still exists).

Bit of step up on Albert Park, Burnley or Royal Park.  They may be able to get on to Barwon Heads but would be a long drive from Richmond.

Woodlands allow access on certain days I believe,
Have a look at the golf course guide they have at most pro shops, that usually gives a fair indication of who will allow access.

Get down to the Mornington Peninsula and play St Andrews Beach. Its just over an hour from Richmond but is definitely worth the drive and is public so access shouldn't be a challenge.

I'd play St Andrews Beach ahead of any of Southern, Keysie, Sandhurst, Settlers and Rossdale.

I'd put Cranbourne in the mix too- seriously underrated track.

Up vote for Cranbourne. Back 9 particularly is typical of sandbelt. On certain days visitors can play - check out the deal sites (like this onn crazy golf deals) if StAB is too far.

Also consider Growling Frog, Waterford Valley, Sandringham public.

I played my golf for many, many years at Sandringham, but if I travelled out here from Singpaore with the intention of seeing a nice Melbourne track, I'd punch you in the neck if you organised the hit at Sandy for me.

Ring up any of the tier 2 sandbelt courses and tell them you're a prospective member who is happy to pay for a round, they'll probably let you on.

Have a look at the sandbelt course site https://www.thesandb...plan-your-trip/or check the club websites  usually access to them but restricted on when as well can get pricey.  Tell them you are interstate or international.   otherwise  St Andrews Beach, Dunes, Moonah the go

The closest you would come to a smartarse crown is checking the spelling on the engraving of koiom’s name.

Wouldn't want to pull in favours for my mate. Unfortunately I'll be stuck at work so won't be able to join them.

Besides I think he has booked in Settlers Run for a hit in the end.
