I took a drop on the 3rd hole on Jan 1, but had to re-drop when I remembered to do it from knee height.

I was going to putt with the flag in but a FC ball was in the vicinity so I had to wait anyway. Another time I was preparing to putt then FC rushes up and whips the flag out.

We'll get used to it in due course.

Posted my thoughts in the other thread but will repeat here as this thread seems more relevant.

First round yesterday under the new rules and for the most part all went smoothly. Was interesting hearing people really had no idea about some of the rules though and again heard some made up ones.

Only took 1 hole before i heard someone say that you could put a flag in the hole after someone had putted and while that ball was still in motion.

Also the first knee height drop i witnessed was from above knee height. But that's not much different than watching people fail to drop at shoulder height.

My only real issue so far was i found 3 minutes to search for a ball too short a time. Our rough is quite long at the moment due to the weather and some other factors and i managed to lose 2 balls in the rough that I couldn't find within 3 minutes. 1 I never found and the 2nd I found around the 5 minute mark.

The frustrating part is that because i don't stuff about between shots, my 3 minutes had elapsed before the 3 blokes i was playing with had completed hitting their approach shots.

I found the 3 minute rule worked well. All the guys in our group would help look for a ball but in each case, the player would call time and carry on. I ended up losing one ball but the game did speed up. Just need to get used to it.

I was disappointed that the new rules did not ban the use of lines drawn on the ball and being used as a putting aid. The time that is wasted by players lining up the line on their ball is another area that should have been dealt with. Hopefully, the time will come when that will be penalized too.

They just need to make the hole a little bigger so the ball is more likely to drop than bounce off the stick.

It does but it feels weird and I'm not comfortable putting out from a few feet with the flag in just yet.

I am with you, I have played too much golf for me to think I will want to putt with it in anywhere on the green

Putted our twice today with the flag in. It does save some time. Most holes we took it out but if Texas wedge was close I tapped in and then took out the flag if requested.
