My club has just had a declutter of all the bits and bobs that clutter up the place, especially the tees.

Ball washers have largely gone.

Tee markers are now just a simple wooden peg in the ground.

Have removed all signs that previously showed hole number, yardage, index etc.  I guess they presume everyone knows the holes so why bother with signs.

No advertising of any kind

Simple wooden bench

Simple wooden garbage bins

Pins now made of wood

Remains to be see how long before the white ants get into it all, but looks nice and very simple now.

My guess is the club is Rossdale selling every thing off to prepare the course for the developer to come in with bulldozers.

As part of the BIG move to Capital, which has the up market high roller versions of all these items.

Of what??  They got rid of everything.  Mind you, I would be interested to see a photo of a wooden flag stick... Is it a long piece of dowel??  Otherwise, bloody expensive flag stick.

I think the point is precisely that there is nothing to see.  Might make it a bit tricky for visitors who aren't sure where to go, but they are rare.

Pin are sort of tapered wooden rod, with the fibreglass bits at either end to  fit in the hole and hold the flag.

I'm a bit non-plussed and didn't actually notice until someone pointed it out.  I think its sort of a reverse snobbery sort of thing - "look how posh we are, we don't need hole markers"
