Gday All

You have to feel for Horsham Golf club, i have been fortunate to have played at this course over the years due to having reciprical rights and outr club  has a comp  between the 2 clubs each year.

Suffered from bushfires on Black Saturday  destroying there club rooms and part of the  course, and now  are very much struggling and have to find 200 grand by the end of the week...

unfortunately this is the way  of the future for many country tracks  as memberships  dwindle and daily costs of everything it must be dificult to keep a golf course  running.

This course is a great course  and will be a great Shame to see it  fold and no longer

This terrible news but highlights the issues in the country with falling memberships and less people travelling to play golf.

Couldn't get to the article (behind the pay wall) but does it mention a Go-Fund page or anything?

Used to play Horsham a bit and always loved playing the course and they have a great friendly club.

No it didnt  unfortunately,  The club said they had just previously had a fundraiser to keep them going  a month or 2  ago but they just couldnt ask the  club members again to do

Just a quick update off their facebook. They have reached their target of $300K which was due today, it keeps the wolf from the door but it really requires ungoing commitment.

I would encourage anyone wanting a handicap to consider Horsham (or other country clubs) their country membership (50km+ away from Horsham) is $240 and you will get a h'cap and access to a great club.

I would also encourage people to play there when they can - I am going to try and organise our next boys golf trip out there - might help put some money over the bar as well as the course.

Horsham is a fantastic track and it would be a shame to see its demise.

At the risk of saying something political ( is that allowed on this site?)  the voters need to change their voting pattern and make the area a swinging seat. Watch the money pour into the community and sporting facilities around State election time then!
