After spending hours scouring the net for answers I have been left with more questions than answers.

I am returning to golf after a 5 year hiatus - babies.

I am 44 years young and last played with a handicap in the range of 22 to 27.

I went for a golf lesson with the local pro this week.

I was hitting the 6 iron about 170 meters with a swing speed of 90 mph.

I was hitting the driver about 210 meters with a swing speed of 105mph.

The golf pro suggested that I replace my hybrid and driver (which are regular graphite shafts) with stiff shafts.

So I am looking at getting a new golf set.

What would you recommend for me for a new golf set?

What balls would you recommend for me?

Money is not a major issue.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I recommend that you go and see a reputable club fitter.

Tell the forum where you are and someone will know a good fitter in your area.

IMHO, your golf coach has probably hit the nail on the head ... 6i going 170m :o , but Driver only 210m  with a 105mph swing speed.

Sounds like new bats are needed. :)

Or, a tweak to the set up.

+1 for OldBogey suggestion, but, would add, the pro who gave you a lesson sounds like he is on the right path. Does he do club fitting? Or work with a club fitter locally?

As OB asked, where are you based? Fair chance one or two on here have some suggestions or experience (good and bad) to help guide you.

And, welcome aboard ... there is this little thread going you might want to contribute toward: http://forums.iseekg...rofiles/page-66;)

Thanks for the help.

I am new Geraldton, Western Australia - no golf fitters locally but I can go to Perth.
