I can’t believe you would stoop that low to do something like that.

Just got back from Eastern Golf Club. Drive was longer as expected but it wasn't too bad as there was no traffic along Warrandyte road. During my drive there I was thinking, "Dang, I would have reached Rosanna Golf by now." and was getting a little negative about having to drive further.

But when I arrived at EGC... OMG... What a spectacular sight! It was so beautiful with mountain ranges as a backdrop. The course looked amazing and immediately I thought that extra 15 mins of drive was worth it. I could so picture myself playing there every week.

Driving range had actual balls and the range was amazing. Putting green is fast! I think about the same if not slightly faster than Heidleberg.

I will be visiting there again tomorrow with my family and hope they will like it.

Whether you spend 15 mins or 30, travelling each way, makes little difference to the 5+ hours you spend in pre tee off warmup etc, after round drinks and the actual golfing time total.

It is certainly worth a little extra time to go to a course you value much more highly.

You can always put up a net in your back yard, practise putting on your carpet, etc. when you have insufficient time to visit your course.

I agree with you in regards to playing 18 holes but I think it does make a difference if I wanted to play a quick 9 hole after work. When it is 30 mins drive, by the time I reach the club they are closed. 15 mins I can just make it in time for last few tee off for a quickie.

Decision has been made. My wife has approved and prefers EGC. She can see us having family time and also invite friends to join at the children room, bush walking, lounge etc. I will try out the course next week and if that is all good I will join EGC. Thanks all for those who have contributed to this discussion. Much appreciated!
