Join a club because you like the course/members, not what might or might not happen years down the track

In this day and age, why would anyone blow $10K to join a golf club?
Unless you're rolling in money and don't mind at all if you make such a donation that may only provide a short term benefit.
Tier 1 Sand belt are the best courses mate, which goat track do you play?

You must be a member of Yarra Yarra?
Or stuck in the mud....too many golf courses in Melbourne. It’s not financially viable for many clubs with stupid old members thinking of their short term playing rights instead of the future of the club.

You really need to let go of the merger obsession
Join a club because you like the course/members, not what might or might not happen years down the track
So I gather you don’t do any research before making an investment?

Of course, I play the course and if I like it I join it.
Someone on a forum suggesting it might possible merge with another club sometime down the track has zero relevance imo

Yes I believe he is
To the best of my knowledge at last count he was a member of the following clubs,
Heritage
Yarra Yarra
Long Island (National)
Peninsula.
Things may have changed since our last game which means I'm a member somewhere too.
