Last test of the summer, will it last 3 or 4 days ?

The Lankins have to put up a better fight or it could be two in row for the Aussies.

I'm disappointed that Stoinis didn't get his first run in the team, selectors might have uncovered someone worth grooming for the Ashes !

Good performance so far, we should wrap it up tomorrow, weather permitting.

Interestingly, it may be a case that this Test has created more selection headaches than it has solved as we look forward to the Ashes. Harris had looked like a lock but then Burnsy goes and tons up and now has 4 centuries and 4 fifties in only 16 Test matches. Khawaja hasn't had a great summer (although is surely one of our 6 best batsmen) but made a great hundred with the team struggling in the second dig. His performance must put Labershange under pressure despite a solid 80 odd at the Gabba. Then Patterson cashes in and made a great hundred as well.

If we assume Smith comes back in, Laberschange is probably the one to miss out? If Warner comes back in, Burns must get first crack as his partner based on this Test which means Harris misses out. Or do you not rush Warner back in and go with Harris and Burns? Patterson's (and Head's) century means it makes it difficult to find a spot for Pucowski or Stonis (depending on pitch conditions).

The bowlers also are interesting, Starc is back to bowling very quick and picked up a five-fa but Richardson has done well and I'm also a massive fan of James Pattinson when he gets back to full health.

At least there is a long second half of the shield season and a decent A Tour to add some clarity. Finally its good to have some depth and selection dilemmas. I think that the past 12 months might actually be the re-build of Aussie cricket that was sorely needed. We now have a core group of young players who have been blooded and we will only be better for the experience.

Probably not a fair assessment of his class. 141* against Pakistan to save the match in Dubai against Pakistan, 72 against the curry-munchers in Perth set up that win and then 2 summers ago his big century against the Saffas under lights in Adelaide was one of the best knocks under pressure that you're ever likely to see. He's a class act.

Yeah, but he doesn't wear a baggy blue. Or did he recently change to ensure his test spot?

One other thing. Australia looked a better all-round unit without the Marsh all-rounders in there.

As a pom, I want them both to rack up a few easy Shield hundreds to get them both on the plane

So one has to ask the question....
Are the South Africans more shite than we are
Have the Sri Lankan cricket team found a performance enhancing drug for a whole team
Is the Australian cricket team actually okay
Or are all the bookies in India filling for bankruptcy.....

For farks sake the Sri Lankan's were a shamble whilst in Aus .... test 1 in South Africa the Sri Lankan's showed some real guts to maybe steal a win... 2nd test the master race were totally outclassed
1st ever series loss on home soil to an Asian cricket team by the South Africans...
So the Sri Lankan's win the 2nd test before lunch on day 3 and not a piece of sandpaper sighted... go figure

To be fair the Lankans had a tough schedule here with a pink ball Gabba Test and a seaming wicket in Canberra.
FWIW I reckon the bookies in India cleaned up 😀😃😇🤨
