Is there a golf clubhouse in Australia that you think stands out above the rest?

We want to know which golf clubs' clubhouses you think are the best in this week's Weekly Reader Poll.

The Australian is up there as one of the best. Spent many an afternoon apres golf in the dining room having a most enjoyable long lunch, and occasionally betting on the unfortunates tackling the water carry to 18.

 

The locker room and Members' lounge are luxurious and more like the American private club locker/grill rooms. Great view over the course and camaraderie is second to none.

I think a clubhouse should be relatively simple rather than some monolithic structure. Other attributes:

- balcony overlooking the last hole / course
- outdoor area if no balcony
- good showers
- decent bar with non fussy food
- NO Pokies
- snooker room
- club memorabilia and honour boards

Sydney: Pymble GC
Melbourne: Victoria GC
Overseas: its big but not in a US context........Friars Head

Really like the feel at Royal Adelaide as well.

Really like the feel at Royal Adelaide as well.

Ive seen behemoth clubhouses as well very small- its like the definition of a home or a house, its the vibe coming from within. Tara Iti in NZ is v fairly small but has a great warmth to it, where Links Hope Isl doesnt have the vibe at all really.  Great look form some of the holes though.

Metropolition is very nice. Bar and dining overlooking 18.
Simple but very nice.
Shop and lockers are also great and lots of cool stuff to check out while walking through there.

Haven't played anywhere in the east so can't really contribute, but if you're talking BIG overseas (maybe another thread) Pattana Country Club in Thailand is 9000 sq metres, includes onsite accommodation, convention centre and heliport

Also Singapore Island Golf Club is so big it has 2 clubhouses....and 90 holes.

No doubt There are some even more grand.

Well unless there is a clubhouse with a walkway over a stream running through it like Cascata, nothing will come close IMOHO

I was fairly impressed with Southern when I was there last year. Great outdoor area and facilities.
