A few big pros talk about their favourite Major moments that motivated them before they turned pro.

Jordan Spieth was 11, already honing his putter on a closely mown section of his front yard, when Tiger Woods won the Masters in 2005 for the fourth time. Spieth considers that his favorite major championship victory that wasn't his own.

"It goes back to when Tiger holed that chip on 16 and ended up going to a playoff with Chris DiMarco," Spieth said. "That Masters win because of that shot ... when you're a kid, you want to go out right away and try some kind of similar shot that you saw someone hit."

Nothing was remotely similar until he played Augusta National for the first time in the fall of 2013.

"The first thing I was interested in was going behind 16, putting the tee down wherever that pin was and hitting that shot," he said.

Mine was the 86 Masters with Jack charging the back 9 to victory.

What was yours that motivated you to play more or take game more serious?

Just Counting my money. “I don’t care about that match point—would you care if you were 23 and worth over $10 million?”

Nothing is my fault!

1983 Open Royal Birckdale. I was at Liverpool Uni but working on the wards then. Took the Friday off to go to it. Remember watching Watson, Trevino, Player, Stadler etc. was too young and inexperienced to appreciate it like I would now. Remember seeing more than one player duff a chip completely, which was a revelation to me then. At that time the USA was pretty much totally do
I ant with Watson, Nicklaus et all so desperately wanted someone from the home country to win, or anyone other than a yank.
Apparently my face was in The telecast. Consultant saw it. Busted.

Hard to go past Adam Scott’s Masters as an Aussie

For sheer enjoyment of golfing excellence though I choose the Open match between Stensen and Phil Mickelson - 18 holes of genius and guts - pure excitement

He couldn’t shoot his age if he was under 100.
