Maybe not the most popular winner, but well deserved.

Great stuff from Speethy & Cam :)

Super uncomfortable moment at the post round presser. Second last question, journo asks, "Patrick, your Augusta roots run pretty deep, I'm just wondering if it's bittersweet not being able to share this moment with your parents and sister?" He doesn't want a bar of it, and replies, "I mean I'm just out here to play golf, try to win golf tournaments." Then this long pause as he stares at the journo...

So what’s the deal with his family???? Where there tragic circumstances or just don’t talk to them??

Reed had his parents kicked out of the 2014 U.S. Open by his wife Justine.

According to Golf.com, his parents and sister were not invited to his wedding in December of 2012 because they believed he was too young to get married. After not speaking to him since the wedding, his parents received tickets to the 2014 U.S. Open from a friend and followed Reed around during the second round, but once they reached the 18th hole, they were escorted off the grounds and had their tournament passes taken away by a USGA official.

Reed's wife was apparently behind this.

In a Facebook post, Reed's wife, Justine, explained the issues between the family are because he was “verbally and physically abused" as a child, which Reed's sister whole-heartedly denied in a Facebook post of her own.

Didn't get 'physically abused' enough for mine........read the background story about his college escapades........

Could not believe my eyes when Bubba putted into the bunker on 2.

I've seen blokes do that on my course but they're trying to get their handicap out.

Well I've enjoyed watching the end of the final round, having ignored all media all day... Recorded the FTA and skipped through the BS and adds to enjoy the final 9 holes...

Speith is very composed, yet, enjoyed himself. Amazing how he can focus and switch on...

Rory let it slip out of his fingers...

Ricky had a good dig too...

Cam Smith, finally got some coverage as his round finished. He looks so young and in awe of the place. Good on him. Good round.

After reading about read and his competitive toughness I thought he might falter, but, he had the guts to do it and I think will now go on to win more majors to delight Goldy.

Very entertaining.

I think that's my golf done for a while. Back to the beach and surfing after hacking my way around the course yesterday with my caddy.

Well done Patrick Reed, deserved the victory. Couldn't give a flying if he is the biggest tosser on the planet, he played the best and definitely putted the best. Golf needs some mongrels.

From what I've read his family lives within a couple of clubs from Augusta. This is a less than fashionable part of America.

PR is a wealthy bogan much like Nathan Tinkler. They act in a similar fashion and will possibly end up in the same place.

Meanwhile, when Cam Smith stops getting asked for his ID to get a drink he'll win a major. Love his cool and calm demeanour.
