Well, who saw that coming?

Poms will probably win back the ashes after that amazing performance....aided by 3 crucial errors ( one of 'em by a supposedly world class umpire) right at the end.....4 if you include the half chance muffed by Harris.

Tim Paine's wasted referral for an lbw that was so obviously pitching outside leg was the real clanger. If they don't waste that, then the lbw howler at the end gets referred and we win. I was hurling abuse at the tv when they decided to refer that earlier lbw. Talk about a poor decision under pressure. That was diabolical.

Amazing how much pressure the Aussies put onto themselves in that last hour. Their bowling was in the slot for Stokes and he batted perfectly with the tail in the conditions. The referral was a classic and so poor that Paine should have been given a concussion test after play ended ! It also shows how much pressure the umpires are now under to make a fair decision without the DSR. Very rarely will they give a runout, stumping or lbw now without checking with the third umpire. They don't want to look like fools but are being made to second guess decisions and then look stupid with the referral system ! The system and game are so flawed at the moment, I'm not surprised that test cricket is being down graded by the masses in favor of the white ball and limited over rubbish.

Agree with the bowling comment. Way too many short balls.

They should have got the hint when a yorker got Broad.

Pitch 'em up....at the stumps...very difficult to hit sixes (How many was it...8?)

I know Mitch Marsh knows. The wrong Mitchell played.
Good series though and Mattew Wade did well.
Warner should have been dropped.
Cummins really is a star.
Smudge is redeemed.
Australia needs to rethink 1-3 and maybe try Kuwaja as an Opener 🙏🏻

Biggest clanger of the series....winning the toss in test 5 and bowling.

Surely Paine would have consulted Smith.

Agreed and if the Aussies had made 200/250 first up it would have been a totally different finish with Lyon bowling at them in the forth innings ?

The Ashes has uncovered a couple of interesting players for the future, Loosebuschange and Wade ( limited life span )
Warner was the real failure and I think he's still suffering from the SA ball tampering incident.

I've witnessed some interesting rules changes in cricket over the past 50 years but the decision of a catch in the BBL of Wade from over the boundary line two nights ago was just stupid.

The fielder took the catch, jumped over the boundary rope and threw the ball up into the air before his feet touched the ground. All good so far but unfortunately when he threw the ball up it was never going to make it back into the field of play. So he re caught the ball whilst in the air for a second time and before his feet were grounded again he now threw the ball to his team mate inside the field of play and it was awarded as a fair catch and Wade was given out.

I saw the fielder interviewed tonight and he stated that, " as long as you don't ground yourself out side the field of play you can tap the ball into the air as many times as you like "

Wow, T20 might soon bring in one hand, one bounce !

Take this comment as another personal attack if you will, but that law was changed in 2013, for all forms of cricket all around the world.

It all adds to the excitement factor I suppose.... I can’t wait to see the day when the fielders are standing outside the boundary, jumping up and catching a six, then throw it back infield to themselves....

Can't happen under the current rules and laws of cricket because, you have to be fully on the playing surface when the ball leaves the bowlers hand...
