Warner will tell CA to stick it where ever they wish and go and make millions on the 20/20 circuit ..... and will have a happy and very well funded retirement.

He'll have an unfunded 12 month holiday first.

With an annual income around $5m he's in deep shite.

1. He, Candice and hangers on will be used to spending plenty.

2. He will have buckets of debt linked to his cash flow. Otherwise, the tax would be horrendous.

I can see a fire sale and marriage breakup on the horizon.

Sad for his kids.

He'll find it very hard to get back to elite performance after no cricket in 12 months.

Plus he'll have to buy his equipment as nobody will want him flashing their logo for quite some time.

Being an arrogant cretin won't help his future. Standby for an oh poor me tell all interview on 60 mins. For a few dollars they'll crucify him.

It is very odd that an employer who no longer requires the services of a former employee is able to restrict that former employees opportunities to ply his trade elsewhere.

This is situation that I can see being challenged in the very near future.......

Exactly, I could have used Smith and warner as grounds man, now, due to future ramifications, they may miss the employment opportunity of. Lifetime.....

Would CA actually restrict his employment options? (I mean outside the sphere of CA). It will probably just be that most cricket teams wouldn't want to be associated with him.

Besides, would it not be similar to, say, an accountant caught fiddling the books and so being barred from the profession for a period?

I'm sure David could find employment as a bricklayer, plumber or cyclist. Just not in the cricket world as presided by the TCCB.

Or have I got employment law wrong here...

I think it's probably being deregistered by CA.

Other members of the ICC probably have rules whereby every player has to be registered with an ICC country.

So theoretically Zimbabwe, for instance, could register them and then they could ply their trade in the IPL.

I don't think they would TBH and if they did I doubt it would stick...

I think all three of our wayward sons will be padding up in a 20/20 tournament in the very near future  B)

Just announcing on Fox about Smith & Warner got 12 months and Bancroft 9 month ban. I think that's official now.

Also says Smith and Warner banned from 2018 IPL. Dunno who made that call.

edit > apparently its the BCCI have banned them from the IPL>

Clearly hasn't hampered Warnie are Mark Waugh's careers.

Things blow over. Doesn't make it right, but let's at least take a chill pill.

Feel for Smithy. Opening up in Press Conference was not a good move. De Pleaseme is still playing after using aloolie. Difference is he made no public admission and was sanctioned by no one. Got a fine or something?
The outrage and witch hunt is fairly typical of a 21st Century mefia but banning them for 12 months is OTT.
Warner yes. The other two made admissions and appeared remorseful so don't think so.

CA have sent international cricket a message. Now let us see if they were watching. Time the ICC got some balls & started dealing with this sort of BS seriously. OTT, maybe. It will surely make any future Australian player take more care over their behaviour. And that can not be a bad thing

I'm bemused that Smithy was (apparently) told he had to do a press conference at the airport. Bancroft gave one (not sure if voluntarily) and yet Dave can just tweet "I'll speak in a day or two".

What's that all about?

What do you reckon?  That when he speaks it will be nicely thought out, considered, and stage managed.

I think Smith and Bancroft will feel mightily peeved in a day or so when they realise what just happened when they touched down in their own Country.
