*As mentioned many times I have a simple solution without any political or racist issues. Just declare Jan 26th as *Mouldy Day.
Born at Nottingham Hospital on Jan 26th 1951 in both UK and Australian time.
The archetypal migrant. Left Tilbury England on December 23rd 1961. Spent Christmas Day vomiting in French waters. Arrived in Melbourne on Jan 21st 1962.
Lived in Dame Edna's Moonee Ponds in 1962 and lost his accent and patriotism within that year.
Played footy and cricket, drank to excess, streaked and generally exhibited Australian behaviour throughout my twenties.
After that I became a model citizen generating millions of dollars of export income.
Friday is a day to celebrate Australia and all the *Mouldys who have enjoyed the growth of a great country.

Just make 26th the National Mourning Day for the Australians that want it changed, and 27th for the regular bogans that want to celebrate Australia Day. Problem solved.

That way Turnball can continue to sit on the fence and enjoy the best of both worlds.

"Invasion" of Australian was inevitable. Perhaps not in 1788 but surely by the mid 1800s.
Would the abos rather be Indonesian and be sent to Kerobokan for their indiscretions ? I think not. They are so much better off than so many other possibilities.

Far too obvious OB. You're not going to get any nibbles for that. You need a bit of sugar coating around it.

purely as a point of how 'wrong' some otherwise funny comments may at first appear

I just get a bit pissed off about all those who whinge about their lot in life when they could, or could have, done something about it instead of relying on others to do it for them.

Many of our indigenous folk fall into that category but they certainly aren't the only ones. If they were in some asian countries they might be trying to eke out an existence living on the local tip.

If the aboriginals wanted a better life, they could have done something about it in the many millennia that they had the entire country to themselves.

I think the point you're missing is they may well have been very happy with the life they were living. British colonisation didn't actually do anything positively for them.

I believe they were quite pro-active environmentalists with their management by fire. They continually regenerated areas. Whilst this may have increased CO2 levels I'm sure this is their worst pollution crimes.

I know right, it's almost like they're saying they cannot afford something because they're just a poor pensioner

They probably were quite satisfied with their lot. Colonisation by a comparative super power was inevitable. They managed their land and their environment, but they didn't manage to have any progress.
