There is an alarming lack of understanding being shown on this site. Not towards ETW, I couldn't give a damn, but why do you and your mates continue to use outdated terms for people who suffer from cerebral palsy
and other disorders to label poor behaviour in others ?It's either through ignorance or lack of compassion but it doesn't look very nice.

Peoples who have been dribbling in here should do some research.... I have a memory that this issue is very close to the posters heart.... a little bit of respect is required

From Wikipedia
"The word "spastic" has been largely erased from popular English usage and is deemed unacceptable to use outside of specific medical contexts, thus reducing stigmatisation of the condition.[5] .......The current understanding of the word is well-illustrated by a BBC survey in 2003, which found that "spastic" was the second most offensive term in the UK relating to disability (retard was deemed most offensive).[2] In 2007, Lynne Murphy, a linguist at the University of Sussex, described the term as being "one of the most taboo insults to a British ear".[1]"

Good thing we are not American.

I have to admit I used to use spastic heaps as a kid and I personally don't find it very offensive. But if someone says "hey I find that term offensive for personal reasons" then why not be nice and just find an alternative?

I agree with your comment, Toph.  If it upsets somebody, use a different adjective next time.
