A question for Scotty Cameron hos and collectors.

Over the years I've witnessed SC hos talk proudly about their collections and also every now and then reduce some of their stocks by private sale (probably to clear space for more Scotty purchases).

Just wondering how Scott Cameron hos value their putters

I'm assuming that many would be in mint condition but they'd also have to contend with the 'bugger-all' values dictated by PGA Value Guide (http://valueguide.pg...utter/titleist/)

Are Scotty's in their own category when it comes to resale or do they get hammered price-wise like a lot of other 2nd hand gear?

Interested in your thoughts ...

I don't collect Scotty's. But does anyone take the PGA value guide as their bible for valuing clubs when they sell or buy?

Not much relevance imho to what you'd get "on the street". I thought it was a trade in value?

Have a look at the PGA value for any club or set and then take a peek at what prices they go for on ebay. World of difference mostly.

eg Ping G30 LS tec driver = $100US  (approx $130 Aus) according to that guide. Good luck finding one for that price.

And it certainly hasn't driven their value down to that price has it?

I guess the value is what somebody is willing to pay for a putter. I gave my Scotty's away to good homes rather than sell them.

Brad, putter talk forum would be the place to find the answers.

I believe GCO use it as their trade in guide..... unless they have changed their policy....

If the putter doesnt fit your stroke type and set up, regardless of whether its a Scotty Cameron or another brand OEM or even a cheap chinese copy and you struggle to holes a putt with putter is worth next to nothing.

SC collectors may never put the putter in play. The putters are more of an investment for some of them. A SC putter used by a USPGA tour player can attract a price tag in the thousands of $, depending on the player. Handmade putters by the man himself demand a high price tag, especially his early projects. The more rare putters are highly sought by collectors.

Donald (Scotty) is a smart character. The Damascus 009 project was a typical example of how he thinks. Who would have thought to CNC the Ping Anser, when Karsten Solheim didn't renew the patent. Scotty did and then offered them to tour players who made him famous by winning with their SC putter. The American dream!!
