I reiterate, it's just a politician's promise without any concrete plan to back it up. It will take them decades to muster the money for the backlog of promises already made. Their only aim is to get re-elected.

In the meantime, they're enjoying their 18% pay rise but only offered police 2%.

The job for job trade in this circumstance has nothing to do with the public service. OB only choose to quote half of the news report !
Victoria's current yearly budget is $80 billion so I'm not sure how that impacts our debt or infrastructure going forward and compared to Qld and other states.

Your auditor general reports that public services wage bill for Vic has grown at 4 times the population growth for Vic so I suggest that says it all

Very Qld-esque too

i just caught sight of this thread,im in cfa and can say that some of the things they can do with the aircraft are mind boggling,we were at a fire in hilly country a couple of years ago,the brought in fixed wing planes that carried retardant along with skycrane and other light planes.....at a couple of drops we were actually higher than the fixed wings that were used....4 jet engined ,and 4 engined turbo-props,its a sight that i will never forget, the turbo props came in and looked like they were flying sideways to some degree....in ending, they can fly very accurately at very low speeds and be in full control of their drop zones......saves the fieries hours of hard work,....also great to be able to watch the sky cranes drop their loads,we have been very close when they dropped, the accuracy is amazing.

To my way of thinking, there are two issues …….  one is that there is too much fuel laying around, and the second issue is that there is no water where it is needed.

Common sense would say that those living in the bush should be able to clear their own land, simply to ensure their own safety. The greenies should never have a say when someone owns the land.

If the government are serious about keeping green areas, and saving us from ourselves, then don't allow the land for sale, buy it instead, and then just let it become overgrown. If it burns ....... then just let it burn, no harm done to anyone.

And as for watering the inland, we have a de sal plant sitting idle and costing us coin every single day. Turn the farker on FFS, and pipe it to where it's needed eg …..  fill the drying river systems, increase the amount of water that farmers can take from the aforementioned river systems, and that will alleviate a lot of issues, and actually try to make the place truly drought proof.

Use the army, air force, and navy who are doing nothing . use the dole bludgers, the prisoners . all this idle labour could be put to work ferrying and laying pipelines ….

We seriously need to have some pollies with more than a 3 yr plan for this joint, and we need someone with balls to get the place moving.

Just my thoughts ….  ;)
