Practice rounds don't count ..... otherwise I'd have an albatross to my name. :(

(The 3rd at Beacy par 5....... 3W to 195 out ... 6 iron in the hole)

DB, thx for creating this thread, yes absolutely . I recently eagled the 7th at the home of golf , 356m par 4.
Monstered my drive with benefit of fast track run, left me only ~110m out, having to negotiate the approach shot under an overhanging branch. I selected a 7i , gripped down for a 3/4 shot.
Come out all peachy , narrowly missed the branch, took one bounce front of elevated green and rolled.
On approaching the green I couldn't find my ball, my partners claimed theirs and suggested I check the hole,,,,,well the rest is history ,,,,they're still talking bout it

Hey, that was the short version Dave ............

Give them the long and involved one, you know, the version that takes at least a beer or two to get thru.

(Wasabipea is busy producing a dvd of the event ........ which will be on sale in the foyer once you leave this thread. )

Does putting in for a birdie count in a comp.when you putt from on the fairway ???? Bout 4 meters off the green, but till on fairway. 3/5 was the score fot for the hole

IMO 1 is King! I've been fortunate enough to have the rarer of the two birds.....the stars were aligned that day as it was my birthday, I was playing with my best mate & had my old man + godfather call me up in the group ahead cause they thought I was dreaming waiting for the green. Holed the 3 wood to a flag tucked over water from about 230m. Only negative was that I scored a solitary + as it was a par event. I've also been lucky enough to eagle every other hole at Castle Hill except a bloody par 3. But I would hand all the others back for just a single 1 (preferably not in a Par event though!). 1 is King!

I've played for a long time and have been fortunate enough to have had bucket loads of eagles over the years, including five 1s.

But, I have only had one albatross (a drive, 4 iron at The Boulders Golf Club in Carefree, Arizona). Can still remember the hangover from having to buy drinks that night, all $800 worth.

All I know is that 1s are more likely and there is an element of luck with all the bigger birds.

I'd rather a 2 for 5 than a 1 for 4.

I'd also rather a -3 than a -2.

When you are retelling the story in 10 years, would you be happier with a 5 pointer, or a hole in one.

One hole, one swing, 1 on the card. Golfing purity.

I'd rather be a 2 for 5 bandit than a 1 for 4 arsey bandit.
I'd also rather be an arse bandit in general. ;)

I do have a story were my son holed out on the par 4 310m 1st at Piney with his tee shot a few years ago. So that counts as it was in a comp.
