Or, you could walk.

I leave big dents in the ground and greens where I walk. I prefer to leave the course undamaged.

I absolutely take back everything I've said and ever though. I had assumed that you chose not to walk because you were lazy, but from what you're saying it's because of completely selfless reasons so I unreservedly apologise.

Apology accepted.

But I should point out that I had a medical condition that use of a ride-on or cart successfully eased. Now that I'm accustomed to vehicular golf, I'll admit to being lazy and not wishing to revert to pedestrian golf.

My golf has been somewhat 'off' lately. I've been hitting them fat, thin, short and wide.

Fat shots have commonly been with 3w and hybrids, thin shots prefer wedges, drives have been short and everything has been unable to direct balls in the right direction, both left and right.

So, lying in bed trying to analyse the cause, it occurred to me that I've been suffering from early extension ('goat humping'). Why? Balance. My weight has been moving toward the ball in the downswing and my subconscious has put me up on my toes with hips forward to stop me going forward.

The solution - setup with my weight a little further back on my heels.

I tried that on Monday, just a nine hole run, and I felt it was working even though my score didn't reflect improvement. Tried it again today and my ball striking was definitely better.

What really annoys me is that I 'discovered' that fix a few years ago and have since lost it by concentrating on other things. Pity it didn't occur to me before pennant season instead of waiting until after the final. Maybe I'll remember it this time.

The joys of golf Phil.

We all find the 'fix', it works well, but something else creeps in.

We still think we have the original problem, but it isnt and it escalates.

Time for a lesson i reckon, actually get you shite togeth

That's golf hey - you fix one thing and something else grabs your attention, then eventually the old one sneaks back in

I had a good round today, particularly the front nine.

38 off the stick (2 over par) 26 points including a 5-point EAGLE on the par 5 8th.

I buggared the 15th (par3) by driving into a greenside bunker then taking 3 shots to get out, wiping the hole.

15 points on the back for a 41 point total.  At last check I'm coming 3rd (behind 44 and 43) with 8 players still to record results.

That was my second eagle ever.

In to Rossdale today.

I was very pleased with the way my drives went.  Nearly all of them straight up the middle and somewhat longer than what I had been accustomed to.  The hybrids worked well, too, except for two bloody great hooks.  Scoring the A grade long drive was a real boost.  I'm usually well short of long hitters.  Obviously the competition couldn't hit straight.

I just hope the form continues tomorrow for club champs.  I'm just worried that it'll be raining which pisses me off and I will play poorly.
