Thanks mouldy,

Last time I measure I was averaging 225 (winter) - 235 (summer) ball flight with not a lot of run in winter. Have been known to pump out to 260+ down wind.

Hoping to get my distance back up above those meters know the knee is fixed and I can start to write checks with the golf club that my body can cash! One thing for certain my days of average around 250 (my early 20's) are Gawn!

Should also say that even my miss hits still out drive cb80 which is always enjoyable!

The funniest thing I have seen was at growling frog. One bloke behind us was the longest hitter I have ever seen!
7th hole we were on the 8th tee box and it landed on the fly next to us, there were ladies on the 7th green..
Par 5 8th I was hitting my 3rd with a 9 from 115 out ladies were 120 back from us and his ball flew them and trickled up to about 5 meters behind me. He's hit it a solid 330 at least. On the 10th he's hit the green we were on on the fly and bounced through out of bounds.
We waited on the 11th to blast him and he was nearly in tears cause he had done it to us 3 times and has never hit it strait before. 27 handicap bodybuilder. We let him play with us from there on for our safety and he only hit one good ball for the rest of the day.

If I absolutely stripe a drive on a flat fairway with no wind in the middle of summer, I'll get 240 odd

I have played many games with a guy at Keysie who is a beast.

We've measured some of his biggest drives at around 280 odd

Off the tee you'd swear they went 300+

Real vs perceived generally has quite a large delta.

The biggest hitter I've seen at an ISG day I reckon is good for about 250ish on a regular basis...and gets the odd one out there about 270. Most of the others that I would consider to be big hitters max out at about the 250 range...and consistently would be overstating it a touch.

Everyone else...probably 230 at most.

 was that me goldy?

The figures above are averages.

There is nothing super technical about hitting the ball far. Most fit young guys with coordination and timing could hit these averages.

They just can not do it consistently at the handicaps we are talking about.

PGA pros are not super human. Most aren't even fit.

I agree with Goldy's opening post. There's a few punters on here living in dream land.

Played golf with a kid (aged 12 or 13, not tall) on Sunday.  He smashed every drive (except one that he hooked) straight up the middle and well over 200m.

FMD it's frustrating for an old fart who has a good drive and finds that it's not much over 200 !!!

He'll be smashing them 300m when he grows up.  The kid, that is.

edit:  he plays off 9

Lots of dreamers .... particularly when they crap on about a particular ball going further

Game Golf stats give me an average of 223m with a longest of 275m. There are quite a few over the 250 mark but not sure if you would call it consistently ;)

I'd say on most drives where I'm giving it a good crack I'd be 240ish with maybe 15% being longer. The average of 223 is probably a bit low because I hit 5/6 driver tee shots at my home track purely for position (75-80%) so that drags it back a bit.

Big Dot on the right hand side of image is a 250M drive.....

93 mph = 246 Y =224m

100 mph = 258 y =  235m

106 mph = 274 Y =250m

110 mph = 284 Y =259m

Interesting thread this one. I don't really know what distance I hit my driver. I never hit it consistently enough to gauge a distance.

On Saturday I used an R15 3 hybrid 13*, reg flex. I used it on the par 4 7th hole of 313 metres. Off the back tees, I projected my ball 213 metres up the fairway, very straight, and I was left with 100 metres shot out from the green., I commented to Skort wearer, I can't even hit my driver this far. It was amazing to see the distance I achieved with this club.
Just to test the theory more, I will be leaving the driver out for Wednesdays game, and using this hybrid instead.

Thanks for reading.
