I know how much you love Tiger- he is playing again this week, though to a small field.

Here is a great story about Tiger and his journey through coaches. It even gives a littel mention to TGM during the process.

An interesting read.

Good article, concludes that the players of old ( 1920/30s) knew their stuff and what they taught was both efficient and safe. Golf has been played for many centuries, it is inconceivable that players through the ages hadn't until recent generations established a correct method of swinging a golf club.

Ok,so tiger acknowledges his back is stuffed or not what it once was

That's a good start

Ok for start mr woods ...do away with your 100 gram steel shaft you're using in your driver ....that leads to either a horrible cut or a hook as he over compensates

Woods should head to the range and take Ernie Els with him for a lesson ...Ernie has swing just as good as an older guy ...

There is no way his body will stand up to his his wing of the last 3 years ......he has to re-invent himself. His short game is outstanding ...he just needs to find fairways and he will contend again in majors and I believe may actually snare one or two if he putts well

I wish he drop the stupid term of athlete ....golf has some athletic characters to the game but it's not athletic event .....it's a game

Game of skill yes but it's not an athletic event ...well that's my ten cents worth anyways

If it isn't athletic why is it such a strain on the body?

Oh, and Tiger hasn't used a steel shaft in his driver since 2005!

The majority of players on tour haven't experienced his injuries like tiger does

Golf isn't an athletic event ....the swing last a few seconds ...and you do that 35-40 times a round

So that's maybe a minute of athletic prowess over four hours of game time ......

Sorry chipping and putting is hardly athletic

If that's the case chess is an athletic event ....because the blokes playing I'm sure have to take a pee at some stage so getting out of the chair would be considered the same

It's a sport yes....golfers like to train like athletes that's fine .........call themselves athletes ...that's fine .....it's not an athletic event and it's why I was against it being in the Olympics

Might not be athletic at your level but for many at the top it is.

Back to Tiger, I'm one that hopes he wins again. He's been great for the game and is exciting to watch at his best. I can't help but think he jumps back into things too quickly. Time will tell hey.

I agree it has a athletic component or element to it

Jack Nicklaus won 18 majors

I doubt he went to the gym much

You can train and become a decent cyclist or runner

.....grabbing a good athlete and making him a golfer is much harder

For every Dustin Johnson there is Boo Weekly or Craig Staddler

Tiger won quote a few majors as skinny young bloke ...then he hot the gym and still won majors

But when you add muscle bulk you add fatigue and injuries to those muscles

Tiger also is t one of those guys that plays huge amounts of tournaments either

I agree working out probably gives you a few yards extra in driving and iron play and probably helps general fitness

But an average athlete could still win majors is my point

I do think tiger will win a major again but won't break jacks record ...IF he gets rid of the ugly cut he's so obsessed with ....which by the way he wasn't won a major with since he's gone to the fade/cut off the tee as his preferred shape

The old tiger would choose what shape he wanted and hit it ...if he can't do because of injuries then that's tough luck and unfortunate

Looking at tigers build I would like him to stop pumping iron everyday, lose the bulk and add flexibility by doing yoga ...stop running because that ain't good for the knees at 38 years of age.

Just my opinion though and I'm no expert

I hoe he does win again even though I'm not a massive fan of his......it's good for golf and the game

Sure ......Nicklaus and hogan hit thousands of shots

Neither was a gym rat

And I suspect the gear they used would have been heavier to swing than today's clubs
