This is not a rumour it is now fact.

Proposal put forward to merge the two clubs to create a 72 hole super club.

LI will be absorbed by the National and The National will retain its name and branding.

Needs a 75% approval from both sides to go through

Depending on wether they honour that type of membership, I'm sure he'll be given the option to upgrade to a 6/7 day if not.

Doubt that they will get the 75% vote required.

From what I understood from the meeting tonight, Scratch can stay in his current category for the next 12 months and then he can decide to become a 5 - 6 or 7 day member.

This truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity presented to all LI members. I know 5150 will be jumping for joy when he reads the latest email from the club.

Anyhow nothing is final until the vote is passed by both membership groups (Getting the Nash members to vote yes might be the sticking point) but we'll all know after 14/12/2014 voted night.

Neither am I to be honest with you.

I get that we now get a fourth course but at the end of the day if I have to decide between playing The Old or LI On the weekend I know which one will win every time.

I realise we have three courses to spread the load of new members but nearly everyone wants to play the Old or Moonah, Ocean bookings are always wide open so add another 200 ppl wanting to come down and play old or Moonah it's going to create pressure.

The other thing is, is there going to be animosity between Nash members and LI members because of the different value in subs being paid? I know that Nash approached LI, not the other way round but Nash need to put forward a fair case to their members.

There has to be benefit for The Nash as a business model because they wouldn't do it otherwise, I think that right now they haven't offered enough benefit to members and don't tell me the benefit is an extra course because rest assured the members couldn't give a **** about other courses, they are happy as a pig in **** with their current set up.

If anyone was contemplating joining Woodlands I'd get in now, there is already talk of The Nash wanting a fifth course

I don't get it either. LI is hardly a "city course" if that's what they want to offer their members. Woodlands or Spring Valley would make more sense. I'd be happy to give up the Huntingdale name if they want a city course. That would make more sense IMO.

As soon as the merger goes through, $250k is being pumped into the clubhouse for upgrades, don't think they'd bother if the intend to sell it
