Anyone know when the field is going to be released? Seems ridiculous being 2 weeks out and aside from Adam Scott I can't find any further info on who's playing!

The TBC places are only coming out of NSW Open results so don't expect any impressive names out of that. They've clearly given Riley Wheeldon a start to boost the number of international players in the field. What about Rick Kulacz? Gets a sponsor invite as an IMG client despite having made 2 cuts since 2012 and being ranked outside top 1,500 in world. Respect to the guy, but good use of sponsor invitation?

Let's face it, Scott should win this even if he was playing left-handed. They are incredibly lucky he's defending champ because I can't see him bothering to play otherwise.

The advertising around the Masters has been very poor this year, perhaps this is due to a number of other external activities, namely the Aus Open.

The Open was always going to trump the Masters this year due to Rory, Adam and Speith.

One's in Melbourne, the other is in Sydney... Two completely different markets.

No one travels interstate for these events. Why would you with FTA TV?

No one travels?

This year I went to Perth for the International, I'm heading to Sydney for the open. I live in Melbourne so the Masters is a standard visit.

Don't speak for people you have little idea about.

And to that, I went to 13th Beach for the Vic Open.

Point taken, but I would suggest you are in the minority in making those travel commitments.

That makes for interesting reading - looking at all the categories - explains the significance of different achievements and qualifications in getting a start. Pretty good field of Aussie players!!

The local tour might not have the big names, however, if you know any of the local players, you'd know that it's very hard work making a living on our tour. I think that's what makes our tour exciting, it offers a real cut throat environment that only enables the better players to survive.

Although the vast majority of our tournaments are worth 100-150K, it does make life tough when the winner takes less than 20K for a solid weeks work.

I know a few of the guys on tour and yeah they certainly sacrifice alot trying to make it. I have been fortunate enough to play with a few Aussie pros and they hit it sooo good it makes you realise they are essentially playing a completely different game to club golf.

Another interesting point is that alot of the international players who come down to Australia tend to struggle so the conditions here can obviously be bloody tough relative to some of the tracks in other countries - I can also see why local pros get shitty about appearance money paid to some of these guys..

Turned on the tv to watch Scotty play, yet he had already finished his round when the coverage started. Didn't rate that.

Well I am keeping an eye on a young bloke James Marchesani - a guy from my club (I don't know him, he was off in the states pursuing golf before I joined) and managed to get in on qualifying in what I believe is his first event as a professional.  Shot a 69 today playing in the last group and catching all the wind. Awesome effort.
