The fix is in to protect the referees.  some obscure footage showed some contact.  Australian cricket selectors must be on the match review panel.  He's taken a dive, pleaded for a penalty and then given Finkler a clip over the head.  Result a good talking to and Sydney get an undeserved point.

Berisha should've snotted him.  Times like that you would like Musky on the ground to sort things out.

correct, its all about protecting the brand. Going down the same path as the afl, deny, deny, deny til you die. Never ever compromise the brand - in the process you turn away fans from the game who can't stand that BS

Well you can only hope that the FFA see how this blonk was ridiculed on ESPN in the US, and how "The Brand" is affected by that.

I don't think the culture of Football will ever overcome the the fall down dead at the slighest contact approach that every game produces. You can watch any Football match, in any league and you will see players collapse to the ground after a trip or fall during a contested possession or a mistimed tackle.

A seasoned Ref will wave the game on, and they almost immediately will get up and run back into position.

The interesting thing in all of this is that The Ref in queston here, has been involved in some very questionable decisions with Victory. God help us if he officiates a game we lose 1-0 on one of these penalties.

It's very simple for refs.  If the bloke rolls around in supposed agony then call play on.  If the bloke is still and gripping the injured part he is hurt.  Just think about when you are hurt, you don't thrash around.

Desperately in need of a tall central defender.  Getting murdered in the air.  Combined with Ansell having a shocker we were in a lot of trouble.

Don't know what happened in attack today but we had no forwards moving towards the near post.  Made our chances once we got some width going to waste.  Seemed like a different game plan today where we tried for holes in the inside.  Maybe Musky is trying to get us more unpredictable.

Bit worried about Finkler.  Think he must be carrying an injury as he was very slow on the ball today.

Great first half with lots of wasted chances and then the wheels fell off.  Very entertaining game.

Great effort by Victory last night in front of 50,000 people.

Got to give Frank Lowy a knighthood for services to the game.  Who would have thought 10 years ago that a local game of soccer in Australia would almost get more people than a Collingwood v Geelong game at the G.

City had plenty of chances but couldn't convert whereas Victory just put them away.  Victory's defence looks fragile but I think they can score enough to win the final.

Final will be a great game regardless of who the opponent is, shame it will not be at Etihad.  Maybe next year they should schedule it for a Thursday or Monday night so that all stadiums are available.

How sweet that was.  Sticking it up Sydney is always good.

Super game by Milligan whereas I was wondering if Brosque was on the park.

Terrific coaching performance over nearly 2 years by Musky.  Really put his own mark on Ange's game plan.  Worried the hell out of other teams on the set plays all year.  Recruited well and used them brilliantly.  Very clever in the finals where he changed the game plan and used only one winger and left the other vacant for an overlap.  Deserved coach of the year.

Next year a tall forward to provide an aerial danger and it is back to back.

How good is the Melb v Syd game tonight.

Don't know who is going to score next or end up with 10 men.

Hope it's the big sook Brosque

don't mind me, I'm just here to collect some of the tumbleweeds that have started to blow through this thread since they've been losing so much lately.

Can't believe that we could dominate the 2nd half so strongly and not get an equaliser at least...

Cracker of a game though against City.

Perth game was bad but the others were great viewing even though we lost.  Just not scoring enough goals.  Set pieces have been poor since Muscat has been sharing the load.

That was the worst game the team has ever played. A 16 year old substitute was one of our best. Once again Muscat shows that he does not have a plan b.

Second game into the season, so a long way to go yet....

23/08/2015 - Curlewis. 5th Hole. Third Shot. Topped the ball, bounced up and hit my hat. 1 shot penalty. "Hat Trick"

23/11/2014 - Settlers Run. Vic OOM5. 18th tee. Nominee for ISG Hall of Fame Drives. "Air Swing"

He doesn't have a midfield.  Valeri played a tagging role on Cahill so Cahill took him out of position.  City owned the midfield and the game.

Austin is useless

Geria had a rare shocker.

Kamau made the other side of the field look totally inept.

I don't think there was any positives to take out of the game.  It's going to be a long season.

City keeper is a great liability though.  His disposal off the deck was hopeless.

Did pretty much stuff all.  Valeri had hold of his shirt for all but 5 secs.  Almost played like a decoy runner.  It will take some weeks before sides realise he is well past his best and there's no need to obsess about him.

The 4 2 4  formation is not going to work.  Two of the front four have to drop back and help the midfield.  Not having Troisi in the starting line up hurt.  Berisha, Austin, Rojas and FBK up front is too top heavy.

You the game is done when Muscat takes off Bozanic and Austin (midfielder and forward) to be repalced by a central back and defensive midfielder.  Essentially playing a 5 2 3? WTF three central backs??
