Well done Deege. And it turns out that in a small field in the middle of winter, you can win the medal with a 10 in your score.

Thanks Geoff. Yes I got my 6 iron back when one of the groups behind came buzzing up in a cart with it, not more than a hole or two after I realised it was missing.

Okay, so a big break from golf while visiting friends and going for a quick winter break to the sun and the sea.
Back on Sunday to play stableford and was pretty pleased with how I went. Driver was behaving and not too many big numbers. Wiped one of the par 3s which I don't get when my first bunker shot didn't manage to hold the green and wound up in the opposite bunker, but that was my only wipe for the day. Just couldn't manage any pars to speak of. I think I had two for the day and not too many better opportunities.
However, ended up 16/16/32 which means another flag for me and down to 14.3. I haven't been at that point since February, and I haven't been lower than that mark since September 2017, so hopefully I can capitalise and push the cap a little lower.
Not long till Nationals now. I have a normal round this week at Rosebud. The following week I have best ball with the iseekers at STAB on Daniel Andrews Day and then am having the final of my club 4BBB championship on the Sunday after the Grannie (hopefully with a Collingwood victory in between). No golf the following weekend and then one more round the week before Nats. So only two more handicap rounds between now and Nationals, with one flag to come off in those two rounds.
Most important is to get a good warm up with Goldy at the matchplay format in best preparation for my final match on Sunday week. A win there will get my name on some silverware so is well worth aspiring to.

Well what a weekend of golf. Start with the ISG 4BBB on Friday. Had a lot of fun in a great group. St Andrews Beach is always a great course to play and though it was windy, we missed most of the truly terrible weather. Dwayne generally behaved and hit some nice putts but everything was a bit all over the shop after the first couple of holes. It was mostly the karma train rightly giving me my just desserts when I sledged one of the others in the group so all well deserved on my end.
Sunday I fronted up for the final of my club 4BBB matchplay championships. We finished the early rounds months ago and had to wait for the scheduled day to play the finals. A few weeks out we were told we could play it early so we set it up for Sunday. We were playing at 11:30am which put the mozz on my prep as I felt all out of sorts.
The group was fairly evenly matched - our team had the low marker off 9 and there was one 14 marker and two 16 markers including myself. Unlike some of the other rounds, it really felt like any one of us could win any one of the holes whether we had shots or not.
We got off to a great start. I was the only one to hit the first green in reg, only to find that my skill was not needed when my partner chipped in for birdie. It took a couple of holes to lose that advantage and then we were down for one or two for most of the day. We would drag it back to square and then lose the next hole so it was frustrating, but we felt that we were still in it. Neither of us played great, but I was once again all over the shop. Pressure got to Dwayne and he put me in the trees often. Not panic stations as I hit plenty of good drives as well, but I was often scrambling to stay in the hole against opponents who were putting the drive in the fairway every time.
I adhered to the matchplay principle of "never give up" and "if you're in the open and you can see it, you will be right" and scrambled along as best I could and more than once managed a half from a hole where for all money I was out of the hole, but just had to be patient for someone else to hit a poor shot. We were one down on the par 5 17th (which hates me) and I chopped my way through the trees to find myself in the greenside bunker for 7. Luckily my partner hit three lovely shots and was ten feet from the hole for three. Everyone else fell apart and they conceded us the hole to make us all square on the 18th tee with nobody having any shots.
Decent drive just in the left rough but nothing in the way for me and hit a cracker to 20 feet short of the green. And 4 minutes later, that's where we all were - lined up in a row, not more than 30 feet short of the green for 2. Opponent one had a less favourable angle and dunked her pitch in the front bunker. Opponent two hit a poor chip to be just on but still 30 feet from the hole. I hit a nice chip exactly where I wanted it, but it failed to take the hill so was stranded 15 feet above the hole. Partner learned from my mistake and put hers to about 10 feet below.
Opponent one hitlers her shot and she's out of it. Opponent two has a first putt which comes up well short, leaving about 10 feet for bogey. And then it was me - slippery putt downhill but pretty straight. Just trying to leave it close so that opponent two is forced to make her putt. And it slowly, slowly trickled right into the hole.
So we led after the first two holes and the last hole and those were the only times we were in the lead all day, but that was all that matters. And I chopped and scrambled my way around the course but managed to hole my longest putt of the day when it really mattered. And we walked away with the win and were both thrilled. There is a trophy somewhere in a trophy cabinet that will have our name on it come presentation night, and I couldn't be more pleased.

Great win Deege. Don’t forget about your name going up on the Honour Board as well.
It’s a nice feeling to see your name up there.
Not a board event unfortunately (they don't have those available for us weekend ladies) but pretty happy camper nonetheless.
