I am still interested to know how anyone at our level can do the same 3/4 swing each and every time to get exact distances.

I would challenge anyone here to hit 5 balls at a target over 60m away and have any of them land and sit within a few metres of each other

I’ll have a go. Can I use a five iron?

4 X 3 jabs and 3 in a bunker didn't help the score at Gardiners. As did finding 3 fairway bunkers.

Very pleased with my GIRs. Can't remember how many but is was plenty.

Can't believe my eagle putt on 5. Totally biatched it and only just managed to get inside Golfguys equally poor putt. Haven't had an eagle since the Vic Nats game at Yarra Yarra.

I got tired towards the end and wiped our 16th and 17th holes when a pair of bogeys would've given me a mid-table 39 points.

Yep, woulda, coulda, shoulda.

Shitloads of fun playing with Goldy, Dan and CB as has become a committee tradition.

A fitness regime starts this week once I've done all the correspondence and paperwork that I walked away from last week.

Taking off to Port Douglas last week was a great idea. Time to get on with stuff.

Plenty of laughs out on the course yesterday and hugs from the motley crew.

Much better prepared for doing the necessary stuff now.

Bit the bullet and getting Jon to build a couple of single length wedges. The Seve head 9i is 44 deg and goes 100m, the PW is 48 deg and goes 90m. Using the same length (between 6i and 7i) 50gm steel shafts like the rest of my DeShampoo irons.

Quite interesting as my Mizuno JPX 44 deg PW with a shorter graphite shaft goes 105m. The Mizuno T4 48 deg wedge with shorter graphite shaft goes 95m.

The new clubs will be Cleveland 52 and 56 wedges. With 10 deg bounce. Jon’s thought is to make them more suitable for fairway shots. I can open the face for more bounce in the bunkers and flop shots.

There’s no doubt that I’m hitting more greens with the DeShampoo irons once we tweaked the lie angles.

It’s all about one setup with 8 clubs, making centre contact more often. That results in more consistent distances. Simple example is how many times I’m now hitting the green on 3 & 8 at Keysie.

For choppers like me I think there is a big positive in single length irons.

Sorry to correct you Mouldman but the Zelos shafts are in fact, 70 grams !

You're not old enough yet oldfella, to have the super lite steel shafts - 60 grams is the lightest that Nippon make btw.

Jon...

ps: your shafts, grips and wedge heads should be together for the weekend :)

Very fired up for this week's golf. Going for 3 flags. Won't be too hard given the crap golf I've played in the last 3 months. Hoping to get my daily down to 15 by next week. Last week it was 18. Only .2 to get to 16 and 1.1 for 15 shouldn't be too hard.

Just for Deege I won't be giving up if I'm less than 6 points after 3 holes as I don't even need 35 points to flag.

I was a bit untidy off the tee on Sunday so a bit more concentration is required. Same with putting, anything less than 36 putts will flag. Going to be easier than Sunday and the Nats as there's no need to hit the ball on the Keysie greens. Gardiners required a very solid hit which I can't do.

Weather forecast for all 3 days looks quite benign so no excuses.

All fired up
