I am still interested to know how anyone at our level can do the same 3/4 swing each and every time to get exact distances.

I would challenge anyone here to hit 5 balls at a target over 60m away and have any of them land and sit within a few metres of each other

Pretty sure you could do that with a sand wedge if you played often enough no?

I'd hope they would all land within yay far, but to be able to know that I am going to hit it 67 and not 63, nah I am far from being good enough.

I'm going to try it next time I'm at the club, I think I could get a pretty tightly bunched group at 85m provided I can hit 5 in a row properly

Except that would more likely require a 185m shot than an 85m shot

I find it hard to reconcile a pursuit for distance precision with this statement; "When I get my worst number around 84m I'm in shanking, chunking, thinning country."

I use my PW for most shots around the green. It's all about feel.

if I was to be seeking advice from peeps on the inter net thingy re my golf struggles I’d be also asking from those that reply what their current GA is.
For me that would rank the answer from omg yes to far cough

Maths and being polite aren’t my strong points M.
5 x 85m shots leaves wriggle room for 2 putts or a bladed 100m fairway shot

I can't get the same swing with a full swing more than once in a row.  I make a point of commenting when one of my shots turns out like I was planning.  Happens about 5 times a round.

What do you do when 82m out on my 7th ?

That depends,  its a horrible green to pitch into at the best of times.

1) where the flag is. ?

Am I flag hunting. NO

then  82m from a good fwy lie to a flag at back left probably hit high 75 m ish to mid green  and hope to hold green..

2) 82m with pin at Front,  prob hit a chip 75m low and running with 9, or 8 to just off front edge and putt up hill.

Come with me to Upper Bukitima in Singapore. If the empty paddock across the road from our condo is still there I’ll show you how.

I paced out the distances and went up and back with 5 balls for an hour most Saturdays and Sundays. So easy to get it right.

If only I had the same practice facility.
