When you get one, make sure it is set to metres and not yards. You would be surprised how often it happens.

'B' Noob.  Get to know how to hit the ball, then you will learn what distances you can hit each club, then you can get a GPS to assist in club selection.  Before that it is still guess work and the on course markers are just as helpful.

I have a garmin watch think it is the s1 - gives me distances to front middle back of green . Best piece of golf equipment I have , you do need to know your distances of your clubs . Don't get to far into the tech stuff , at your stage of development the kiss principle is best thing for you.
