A quick 9 at Boomerang between showers and rushed to fit it in before their 2.30 shotty comp.
played 2 balls. The idea was one would be regular game, one would be safe and conservative off the tee ie hybrid max.
Firstly most greens not great. Recently scored plus they are seading bent. Will be awesome if it takes over winter.
Anyway, the lesson learned was that it matters not a jot want club I hit as long as I don’t duff it, and tbh I’m just as liable to stuff a hybrid as a driver.
Was rushing a bit too much to take enough care esp on the bad greens. Overall about average for me. My two scores were 48 for the conservative ball and 39 for normal. Taking the best scores from each hole would be 42. Par is 34 and it’s a short easier course but with tricky tiny greens and very very hilly in parts. Hmmm. Not very good. But if I can eliminate the total **** and score closer to the 42 I am obviously capable of there is hope.
Most shots lost would be from inside 100 m which was hard for someone as rusty as me with bumpy greens and wet clingy grass all around.
The work in progress continues. I need another lesson I think.
Ps. The normal c conservative trial was a little disrupted by the driver head coming loose Half way round.

So o brief analysis, and bearing in mind there are no bunkers and only 5 tee shots needing a long club, I lost
Approx 10 shots from putting
4-5 from chipping
2 from poor pitches
5 from irons and hybrid
2 from a topped hybrid off the tee.

So am going to have to spend 50% of my practice time putting. Fark. Hate practicing putting.

It’s hard to get interested in the first place let alone keep interested. I know people have loads of “fun” drills and little competitions, but seriously. I’d rather watch my nails grow.

9 at Southport with Madam, Ian and Darren
Lovely end to a pretty stressful week
Horrible golf on my part. To be fair my driver and irons went ok. Only 2 real duffs. But chipping and especially putting was just woeful. 3 putts on most holes.
Must. Practice. Putting. It’s embarrassing.
I think 57 shots but about 25 putts.

Putting mat from Bunnings retrieved from storage area and laid out in garage. Gives uphill and downhill putts on a very fast green surface. Practice and drills from pro as I remember them to be implemented on a daily basis. Putting out of your mind to be reread. So called range sessions will be chipping and putting and pitching for 90% of the time. This is very obviously what will get me to a sub 20 handicap player.

How'd the dental surgery go?

Will it improve your golf?

Have you done any putting practice?

As an aside, just re-reading your last post, the whole short game shot saving process was, is, my saviour. When I was hacking around off 27 at Pelican, I had to rely on my short game. I would practice 8i chip n runs every few days. I also got better had getting out of bunkers due to the number of them on that course.

While practicing may be boring, I find making it a game in my head really helps. I play up n down for par in my head when practising short game for feel.. if technique it's 10 balls from one spot, count number inside target area, track progress, but for on course feeling, I use one ball and chip it then putt out. If the chip sux, the pressure is on the putter etc.

Maybe a variety like that might help you stop the boredom.

Dental was better than expected. Thanks. Don’t think I will see a difference on the course.
I don’t mind practice. Just putting practice. And yes, I play the same kind of games to make it more fun and give it a bit of realism.
I often chip and putt quite well practicing but on the course the hole shrinks and looks impossible

Parkwood today with Madam (thanks for organising) and Anonymous Golfer.
Much better. We played the second nine first and I was pretty much bogey golf all the way. One par one DB one wipe, rest all bogies. Putting was much improved after a little string line work in the garage through the week. After 3 holes my back started to twinge on driver which caused a duff and some missed right, hence the wipe, then I stopped using it for a few holes. Irons and chips n pitches were pretty good for me.
We played some of the back nine and I pretty much continued the bogey golf. One par and a DB I think.
Obviously much room for improvement, but much better than last games dismal effort. Bogey golf is where I feel I should be at the moment so it’s good to actually do it.
Was a beautiful Gold Coast afternoon. We kept going till it was too dark to continue. Really enjoyed the golf, the course, and the company.
