I think it's great.
Got a lot of great holes, some world class.
Couple of things could be improved but I think it will be comfortably in the top 50 in the country when it's rated

Guru, leave it 12 months and then go out there or ready earlier? Big trip, I need to prepare a packed lunch and find somewhere to overnight :)

Fairways are good but a bit thin on grass in some places, still can see drain lines occasionally etc. Greens are firm and true but a bit slow.
Overall it's still very playable but yeah, in 12 months it will be better. Only an hourish drive from Sydney CBD, not much different from getting down to NSW on a bad traffic day

Played the new course on Sunday. An interesting course and as others have said, needs time for the fairway grass to grow etc. Tee boxes are rock hard, but the daily storms we are currently having will soften things up a bit.

The rough is long couch grass, so your ball just disappears if it rolls off the fairway, even by a foot or so. Hopefully once things get established, the rough will be shortened a bit, as it is a bit of a joke actually, and constantly looking for your ball just slows play down (yes, I know, I could just keep it on the fairway).

The Riverside Oaks staff are very professional, and it is well worth the drive out there.

The original 18 holes was out of play in preperation for this weekends NSW PGA Championship. That course was looking an absolute treat.

Yes done a few rounds on it now. The new 18 layout now is playing very well. Shot 92 last week on it.

As others have said, the rough is ridiculous. A great shot that trickles off a few feet will still take ages to find. You have to be standing literally over your ball and even then you still won't see it.Hitting your fairways is very important. Driver not always best idea.

The older main course there is in the best shape I have seen since the early 90's. Has held tournaments there in the last month, NSW PGA etc, so it looks like something off TV. Just beautiful. The whole place up there is back to being Sydney's best.

I played it a few days ago for the 3rd time. I hate to say it but I think this will struggle. Several greens are already dying (the 17th is woeful). The rough is ridiculous and it show's you can't run 2 courses when you only have the greens staff for one.

The second nine looks like it's half finished and reeks of being done on the cheap (which it was)

I heard an interesting whisper this morning that the Chinese owner of Riverside Oaks is possibly in big legal kaka over unapproved courses in China.

Also heard that the Bungool course has already been closed due to the flow on effect with funds being dried up.

Any truth to that?

Looking at their website, everything looks to be open.

New membership categories have been introduced as well but playing the new course is pretty exy and from descriptions above way over priced.

I heard yesterday that there were some problems with 6 of the new greens and there weren't new funds available to refurb.

Here say, but its out there.

Looking at playing Riverside on Friday which course is in good nick or avoid both?

Played there about 3 weeks ago. New course was in good nick although several greens showed some bare patches. The greens still ran very true and good pace, the patches just took away from the visual a little, no real effect on putting. Course very open and playable.

The new course greens had all suffered big time but were on there way back. Probably played like 2 week old cored greens. The course layout of the new course was sensational, even though perhaps the long couch grass was possibly a little penal in some areas. Could punish you if you are a little off line, but in short myself and a few of the guys that played it, rated it despite the crappy greens.
