We could always burn off those calories by regripping a set of clubs?

And speaking of tools ............... (be nice now)

You can also get one of these to assist you in removing the existing old tape from steel shafted clubs, (once you have removed the old grip)

Just a few waves over the old tape will start to melt the adhesive and the old tape comes off much quicker and easier.

237218_srp.jpg

These are also bloody handy for melting the sugar on top of Creme Brulee's ..... so actually it's a tool the little woman can use.

That's your justification for getting one .......... and speaking of which ........... here's a Vanilla Crème Brulle Recipe

Ingredients

300 ml pure cream

 200 ml milk

2 vanilla beans, split lengthways, seeds scraped

 100 g egg yolks (from 5 eggs)

 70 g caster sugar

 30 g demerara sugar

Preheat oven to 130°C.

Place the cream, milk and vanilla seeds in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil and remove from heat.

Quickly whisk together the yolks and caster sugar in a large bowl until just combined. Pour the hot cream mixture over the top and whisk again until combined. Strain the mixture through a fine sieve then pour into four 180 ml ramekins.

Cover with foil and bake the brûlées in a bain marie for 60 minutes or until set but with a slight wobble.

Remove and rest for 20 minutes at room temperature before refrigerating for 4 hours or until cold.

To serve, sprinkle each brûlée with demerara sugar and caramelise using the above implement.

Bon appetite ......... :)

Thank you for posting my recipe GPJ.  Using the Vanilla Bean is vital.  The Demerara sugar is not essential, but certainly adds to the better side of crusting.

Most people have rags and a vice in their home already, but when I regrip my clubs, I dont need a vice. Sure, a vice would make it a tad easier, but after cutting the grip with hook knife, I just peel back the leading edge of the grip with my right hand, hold the shaft with my left hand and pull. The grip pops right off with most of the tape as well. If it is a steel shaft, then I use the back of the blade to scrape off the excess tape. If it is a graphite shaft, I use my fingernail.

I then lay the club on my desk, and apply the 2-sided tape. Put a towel on the ground in a corner, and remove the layer of wax paper from the tape. Put solvent on the tape, and inside the grip, and put the grip over the shaft just a tad, but lined up with the face of the club. Then I put the head of the club on the towel in the corner on the ground, and slide the grip on with my thumbs and 1st two fingers. The grip slips on very easily without bending the shaft. Push the end with my palm to seat it completely.

Finally, line up the grip and use the towel to wipe off the excess solvent.

Throw the towel back on ground in the corner and repeat.

FWIW, I did recently buy some material to protect the shafts while they are in the vice, but since this is Japan, I had to improvise and will have to cut them myself. FWIW2 I will use the same box cutter knife that I already own to shape the material correctly.

This is basically exactly what I do however instead of solvent I use WD40, works a treat.

WD40? Wow. I knew that was some good stuff, but I thought it would have made the grips slip off.

BTW GPJ, I do have 1 of those torches, and I made one of those black rubber things with some store-bought foam and a box cutter while my cat hung out in a tree. It looks like hell, but it worked on my 1st head swap so, it's a keeper.
