Tiger has dominated the award in its 20-year history.  He's now won 11 times, and won 10 out of 13 from 1997-2009.

Despite not winning a major it is pretty hard to argue against him winning.

5 wins in a single season, still head and shoulders above the rest

5 wins! no major but 3 more than anyone else. Only played 16 events this year and won 5 of them.   This was a vote from his peers as well.

Can't disagree. Not sure he'd be happy with the year just based on an expectation he's focused on majors. But best player for sure.

He was probably only a flag-smack away from a major this year too.

By anyone else's standard it would've been a career year. It's only dwarfed by Tiger's own lofty expectations.

Honestly Dave how do you come up with this stuff? You say he won on courses where he knows he'll win like it's a bad thing? What the heck does that mean?

Although any golfer who "knows" that they will win on a given course deserves to be heralded as the worlds best.

This award will most likely mean an upgraded contract with Nike. More millions for the Tiger. Speith picking up rookie of the year with one win, three second places and 9 top tens is an incredible effort. And he did it easy.
