Folks,

wondering what your lowest lofted hybrid is??

I have a 15Deg 3W that is very fickle off the deck and 19 and 22 deg hybrids that I can reliably hit off the deck or off the tee.

I get 180-190m off my 19deg Hybrid and get 210 out of my 3W (but of course that doesn't happen often and reliably enough).

So much so that I am increasingly reluctant to hit my 3W off the deck unless I'm in an adventurous mood and end up giving up the 20-30 m.

I'm wondering if I should explore getting something like a 15/16/17 deg hybrid that I might hit 200-210 to replace my 3W.

K, I am lucky enough to have won a Taylormade Burner Superfast 3.0 3 hybrid (don't tell Stink and GPJ they are in our bags). In the bag at the moment as I have girly swings and only need regular shafts. Gets me to 200.

Horses for courses.  What gets you the distance confidently is what matters.

.

PS. Also have an old Hogan steel shaft 2 hybrid if you want to borrow it.

I have a 20 deg hybrid, but I don't use it much.  When comparing with my 23 deg hybrid, it is only relevant if I am using the club to try and get on the green and I need a little extra run.  If I need a hybrid to reach a green I am almost always going to choose laying up and using a short iron for the approach rather than trying to control an approach with my hybrid.

Krish think about course management. You won't often need to hit a 3 wood off the fairway unless it's a reachable par 5 in two, or a short tee off because of a sharp dog leg followed by a long 2nd shot. Think about how many shots you would realistically need without pulling off a hero shot that happens once in a blue moon. For the par 5, if you're 210m to the pin, your options are go for the pin and pull off a hero shot which could end up anywhere and leave a difficult recovery shot, pull a hybrid and be shot 20-30m for an awkward chip/pitch, or take an iron and lay up to 100m or a distance you can reliably knock down a shot with any wedge. Either one you choose, there is a higher chance that you will be on the green in 3 shots and have two putts for par.

Agreed, if I am more than 200-210 out I try and layup to between 75-100m so that I have a full wedge in. Having said that though there are probably 7 holes in Kooringal that demand the use of a hybrid. 3 par 5's out of which 1 might be reachable if the shot off the tee is good....and 3 Par 4's that are around the 400m mark.... and a 180m par 3....of these I am able to reach the Par 4's and the Par 3 at most times with my 19 Deg, but I want to get something that is a bit longer to replace the 3w just in case there is day I have to hit against the wind...also for the times when I don't want to hit driver off the tee...
