I've played both and I reckon the Farm is the better: Dunes tends to be the same or opposite direction for most holes while the farm's holes tend to run in varied directions, giving you all four (or more) winds to deal with. Farm's clubhouse is better, too I reckon. Loved those pizzas in the sports bar. Stayed at the Dunes so can't comment too much on the rest of the Farm's facilities (except the pizzas and beers were top shelf). But, as others have noted, both these courses are fantasmajorical! Played there when the wind was SOOO strong we had to lay down on the fairways the buggies/trundlers, and on a couple of holes the buggies were being rolled over by the wind. Played 11 and hit driver, 3wood, 6iron-runner to get to the green. Man, what a day. Loved both courses, loved the weekend (2 rounds on each) and now i have the challenge of getting back there... :-)

Just finished our second trip. A windy weekend at both courses. After this visit the comparison between the two courses is huge. Next trip will be Dunes only, lost farm not worth 110 when you can play the Dunes again.

Layout, character variations of how you could play each hole. The views the Dunes and shaping of greens and fairways is just amazing lost farm just missing something. Still worth playing once but you could play dunes 100 times and it would never get boring.

But you wouldn't be disappointed if LF was the only choice you ever had.

greens

Two great courses with their own unique characteristics.  The weather is a gamble but much like anywhere as exposed as they are.  Interesting article about the green here......

Some of LF's greens are contour badly.

If you land any where on those greens, the ball will end up on a similar position because of the low part of the greens

Why are neither of these courses on the GA slope rating list. Or am I missing something?

Played Dunes on Sat and LF on Sun with 12 mates from Syd. Both are awesome courses. Just wish they had carts. The wind blew so hard on Sun the power went out in the clubhouse.
Stayed at 116 Westwood and Anatayla (2 houses in Bridport and would highly recommend both).
Just DON'T use Budget for bus hire. Picked up a mini bus with trailer from Budget Launceston. Received no instruction about use. When we tried to lock the door with the key it wouldn't turn and lock. The locking mechanism was held together with cable ties and rubber bands. Driving down the road we missed our turn. How lucky we were. The trailer door had worked loose and bags were strewn across the road. Found 5 out of 6 bags after driving back to Launceston. When reported to Budget, their reply was there was nothing wrong with the trailer and bad luck I lost close on $1000 worth of gear.
Never use Budget again.
But do play both courses.

I do hope that Barnbougle never get carts, its one of a number of things that make it great, unless you have a medical reason to there is no reason why you need a cart. Wished that more courses took this stance.
