There is not a lot of entertainment in Cobram on a Saturday night unless you go to Sporties and there is a band playing and Toc has entertainment on a Saturday night but dodging the Roos on the way back could provide some entertainment.
Most of the courses up this way have the same issues with the grass being dormant in the winter. The bunkers are also an issue after rain at toc .
There are some players who think Cobrams greens are not as good as Tocumwal’s but I might be biased and prefer Toc’s but it is a close call between them.

Yep we did Sporties on Sat night, but got out of there just before the um, "Bee Gees", were due to take the stage. (It's all in the timing).

I didn't mind the courses though, as there were some very good holes amongst them. They could just do with a couple of shorter par 4's I think, but it was good fun playing and staying there. (Both of them were in better condition than Beacy at the moment having played up there this morning) .....  :)

Update time from this morning's round back up at the home of the hills.

The course is definitely a tad wet and soft at the moment, and the worm castings are poking up everywhere, so its like shite to a blanket as the wheels of the Clicgear roll along the fairways.

Started off with 17 points on the front half, so four over, and after a coffee break, it was out onto the back half and an ensuing even par 9 holes.

So, 39 points for the day, 75 OTS, and not too bad considering I hit some shockers out there, particularly some approach shots that came up short with either short irons or wedges.

Those are the shots that are really frustrating … being a hunge out and coming up short of the green with a half hearted wedge shot. The scrambling wasn't too bad, and not really required too much thankfully.

The driver was working pretty well, and I was paying lazy draw shots with the longest club and it was working pretty well throughout the round.

The putter was solid without being flash, so a solid round with just a few mistakes here and there. It was fun being back playing with Bradley and co, and in having a relaxed hit on the hills.

Next round is on one of the weekend days coming up (not sure which just yet) … so another chance to hit some decent ones in amongst the rubbish. ;)

6.2 .... apparently Brendan.

A couple of half decent rounds of late have helped arrest the slide out, but there are a lot of crappy half practice rounds and a few "cgaf rounds" in the list, so anything could happen in regard to that GA number. :)

Mine too Micky. :D

It usually happens about the same time as I reach for one of Bradley's right handed clubs, or decide to play one of the par 5's with 5 x 5 irons.

Quick update ...... played Tuesday morning, off at the very crack of dawn, well perhaps a minute or two earlier.

The course was a touch damp and the wind and rain were ever present during the round.

It was "Red Tee Day", so we were playing off the red tees (eg the ladies), so the pars on a couple of holes changed, as did the hole ratings apparently.

Playing as a two we pretty much raced through the front nine, leaving the group of old boys behind us to lag several holes behind. We had a coffee break after 9 holes and sat on the porch of the pro shop watching the rain continue to pour down.

Off to the 10th tee, just as the old boys finally reached the 7th green, and they walked right past it, declaring they were pulling the pin, as they trudged off towards the car park

Sure, it was a touch damp, and a touch breezy, but the sideways stuff would eventually stop …. wouldn't it?

So, after bidding them a fond farewell, (I may have called em a bunch of "*******"), we teed off and proceeded to play out the round.

We did have to relocate the balls a couple of times on the greens to avoid the "standing water", but aside from that it wasn't too bad.

We actually saw the sun come out as we were heading up the 18th, but by then the damage to the scoring had long been done.

We both finished with high 20's in terms of points, but it was just good fun, and a fast paced round, being finished by 10am, so quite enjoyable despite the inclement stuff.

There was a bonus though, in that after my glove got soaked, I went and found my pair of Footjoy winter gloves tucked in the golf bag, so I had one toasty warm glove on each hand, and a much better grip on the clubs for the last few holes.

Next round is due on Sunday I think this weekend, I might have to break out my nice new golf bag if the weather is okay....  ;)

I might have to find some complimentary Loudmouth colour ………. just to offset the bright bag on Sunday OB.

Perhaps you should try matching your ensemble to your golf cart, eg something in "hearing aid beige".   :D

It's white with some small blue trims.
But yes, beige is good. When your body is my shape, there is no justification in highlighting it with bright colours. Even my golf bag is black.

Its only number 3 Frank. (I had to toss out the Mizuno bag cause not one zip worked anymore).

I've still got the old blue Tommy Armour bag, (which like the Mizuno is probably due for the hard rubbish)

…… and then there is my much admired Wallabies bag, which I'll hang onto, for use in rounds where I'm playing alongside Murray.  ;)
