Stableford yesterday at Sorrento GC.   Playing off 9 hcp for the day and off the blue markers

Front 9 - 14 points

Back 9 - 14 points

28 points and nothing special.   Too many one pointers on the front with no wipes.   A few better holes on the back but 2 wipes.

Still love the course though and weather was pretty good.

EDIT - Just looked at my golflink and it appears  that there's been an "issue".   Move out to 8.2 and no score recorded

Check in your golf bag or partners golf bag...

BTW, that crap round (MINUS 10)on Tues was started with a Vision ball for the first 6 holes (only one half achieved with a long 1-putt). I'd swear my drives were 40m short with it, and iron shots also commensurately short.

Game was a bit better after I changed balls.

On Thurs I used a Forte ball which worked normally.

Dont you think the difference is distance you experienced was most likely due to off centre hits on the club face rather than the ball itself..

when you changed balls after 6 holes this is what golfers in similar situations experience it is called a placebo effect . I have changed balls now i should improve (you still had minus 5 for rest so not a real endorsement).

In fairness to test your assumptions, on Thursday when the Forte ball was "working normally",(what ever that means) .

you should have substituted the vision ball for last 6 and seen if there was a dramatic drop off in performance.

Minus 5 for 6 holes, followed by minus 5 for 12 holes. That's a notable difference. I've noticed before that Vision balls don't go as far.

"Normal" is Qstar, Zstar, Callaway, etc.

Played the Friday comp @ Terrey Hills. Was my first hit there & it's a top course in great condition. I played well off the tee and my approach play was good with my short irons but my mid irons failed to show up and were generally hit fat. Hit 12/14 FIR & 10/18 GIR. The 2 fairways I missed cost me a double (think DJ 2010 2nd hole Pebble Beach for my lie just over a fairway bunker - I wiffed my first effort at it 😃) & an OB treble. Other than a slow start water double on the first I was pretty solid & my putting was good even if nothing really dropped. Came in with 14/19: 33pts

3 bogeys
2 doubles
1 treble
1 birdie
11 pars
32 putts with no 3 stabs

Southern Riverina Vets at toc and playing the captains course and a shotgun start and the 7th was our start hole and in the fog. Did I mention it was foggy when we started but that was no excuse for finishing with 32 points.

Vets' round at Yallourn today. Just 1° at home this morning and not much warmer on arrival at the course. It warmed up later.

Started on the back nine and the 10th green was fogged in to start with. But no more fog afterwards.
17 points on our first nine and I scored a NTP on the 12th.
Second nine was rubbish with a few wipes and 1-pointers and just 10 more points.

Course was in good condition and not suffering from recent rains, although a couple of greens were a bit soggy in spots.

It might be too wet for golf tomorrow.

Playing lesson with super coach at Lang Lang today.

what a fabulous day to be out on the course, which was in excellent condition.

It was very enjoyable going around with coach and he provided me with great insight into how golfas should go about playing their games around key strengths.

Today I really learnt how to play and enjoy the game stress free and with help of super coach developed strategies to score around this difficult course.

the strategy is simple, decrease the number of DB/ wipes  or 1 point holes by playing  to put ball in best scoring area and increase the probability of making 3 pointers on 6 key scoring holes.

coach also helped me understand and identifying the course factors and playing conditions which good players use to decide when to hit aggressive and when to play conservative approaches,

we also spend some time practicing green reading to help get best reads on the fast sloping greens and adopted the approach of not trying to hole any putt over 3m in length (thus reducing the possibility of 3 putting).

We set some process goals and a practice routine to play to the game plan.

all golfers should consider playing lessons are 10 times better for improvement than a lesson on a range or in a net, as on course the player hits real shots from variety of good and bad lies.

there is no focus on swing mechanics just on enjoying the game and learning how to move the ball around course in an efficient manner which is what game is all about.

Isn't that approach a little bit of defeating the purpose type of thinking ?

Can't imagine having a 10' + putt for a win or half in a match at the death and not trying to hole it ?

It wouldn't take a lot to ingrain that negative thinking and become super defensive when on the greens, especially at Langy.

tactic strategy  to stop me 3 putting from close range 3 to 5 m.

tap first one up close to hole and tap in rather than charging and missing 1m putt coming back

Played Ballina GC Sun-Mon in an industry event

Blue tee Sunday with 34pts and Monday white tees 35pts  Dropped to 5.1 though the Sunday scores hasnt been posted yet.

Played well off tee both days- greens fairly slow due to rain a few days before.  Short game was solid .

Just had a couple brain snap holes, reach par 5's in two and then dump chip/three putt for bogey.  a few 3fts missed.(dont say anything Goldy).

Should of, could of had some good scores especially Monday.

Ballina is actually a pretty good members parkland style course, with some interesting holes, and good par 3's Worth a hit if ever in the area.

EDIT: Sunday score in and now 5.3

Stroke at Warra today.

Dry weather for the first nine, then drizzle.

Opened with a 3-putt, only two 1-putts on the front, but 4 shots down at the turn.
Five 1-putts on the back and didn't fall further behind.

Nett 75.

Didn't change, same ball for 18 holes.

I suspect his question was based around your excuse from the other game when you blamed, for what I assumed are his favourite balls for your bad scoring.

He's set the play up and you've knocked it out if the park. You guys are pretty funny, this site needs more of it
