Hi,

I am playing at Hidden Valley this weekend and I was wondering what people's thoughts are about this course.

Thanks.

If this is a set-up, this forum has become too cynical.

Or, if this post is serious, my apologies. Jeffrey is the expert on Hidden Valley: do a search for a old review he posted.

Bazza,

You'd be better off if Hidden Valley remained just that.

Unfortunately Henry, I must say yes.

I played it within it's first twelve months of play. Despite making allowances for the newness of the course, I just found it pretty uninspiring and overall quite bland. Almost Royal Essendon in quality of layout. If the previous 17 holes weren't enough, the island green at the par three 18th, was the icing on the cake.

[Insert vomiting emoticon]

Whilst the purists who frequent this site may not like it, I've spoken to plenty of guys who think it is fantastic (mostly members). I haven't played it myself though (Henry, perhaps we should head there for a game).

Jim,
We should DEFINITELY head there for a game: I hear they're almost giving away complimentary games. Or maybe one of your member-friends could host us?

The current offer is $55 per pair with a cart. I'll put my bag on the cart and walk and you can practice your driving

Jim,
Sounds perfect.

(this really should have been done via the PM's: I'm now formally a hypocrite)

As for being a hypocrite, if you can't beat them, join them biggrin.gif

cazandpaul,
On a course like Hidden Valley, it would only be appropriate to drive a cart. No point attempting to be a purist at a place like that.

Henry,

Nice to see that your "open mind" policy is in overdrive, and that unlike some others you do not prejudge a place without first actually playing it. All too often I read of people who do things like comment on courses after viewing half a hole from the carpark or worse, trash courses they have never even seen.

How refreshing to see they you have not prejudged Hidden Valley.

JJ

Okay JJ I'll bite.

Are you referring to your comments on The Lakes from the taxi on the way to the airport??

Matt,

You are confusing 2 different posts on the Lakes. Your favourite "Taxi" post that you continue to bring up was;

In my twice weekly trip past the Lakes in the cab going to and from the airport I've noticed that they are changing a number of things. The 18th seems to be getting changes to the green and green side bunkers whilst the other side of the road they are changing fairway bunkers to make them my favourite grass faced variety

Anyone know what they are up to and who is doing the work?

You'll note that I made no reference to the quality of the course, merely that changes were being made that were large enough to see from a taxi. The other Lakes thread was the larger one and again I didn't give my opinion on the impact of the changes because the 5 or so times I've played the Lakes were all pre-TWP.

Nice to see your form hasn't changed.

JJ
