Thompson Perrett did the design and construction.  They are also doing a master plan for the rest of the course which is due any day now.

Sounds like the club went about it properly.

You hear/read about so many clubs that have taken the DIY route, lead by a committee that don’t know what they’re doing and ultimately end up making a real hash of it.

yeah they were about to do that with the next round of small changes regarding tees, fairway bunkers and mounding, but decided to get a master plan done, refine that and get member's approval.  A better way of proceeding.

So, is spending all the cash a popular idea? I'm no expert, but judging from my clubs experience in renovating the club house, being spend happy can only mean 1 thing. No money. Obviously, depends on the works etc but I'd be a little upset if my club went and spent the lot.

Haha not quite but the bunkers on the new holes are mental... Think Mandalay greens and bunkering thrown in for 3 holes.

They are certainly formidable in their appearance, but I have found them easy to get out of as the sand is well drained.

I've found every bunker on the course besides the ones on the new holes. I've seen 4 balls plug in the lips on new ones in a month through.
Went in today and saw the new practice green is open and looks really good, a lot firmer under foot than the other 3.

Had to pull from this weekend sorry, our handicap pennant team must be struggling for players if I've been called into the finals.

Yeah they grew the grass on that one from seed rather than turfing - took a lot longer but a better result at this stage.  It's still a lot slower than the greens on the course though.
