As far as the Best Actress category is concerned..I was checking the betting on Sportstab and there are a couple i'd like to get on.
Renee Zeggwellinhaussen @ $3.75 is a special and SALMA HAYEK @ $31. I don't think she can win but i'd still like to get on !

No, apart from 3 days of parties. I'm heading over next Wed. for a couple of weeks, mixing business with pleasure. My wife is 4 weeks off giving birth, so it would be good to be back for that. (Ya' think!)

As far as 'best original score' goes, I'd like to see Thomas Newman win for 'Road to Perdition'. Anything, as long as John Williams doesn't win.

Andrew

,

In the past, it was done through the aid of drugs.

These days it's ego's. 1000 people all thinking that they are the most important person in the room. Of course, they will be wrong. I will be the most important person in the room.

Anyway, enough of me talking about me. What do you think about me. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

What I hate about the Oscars (and most award ceremonies in the entertainment industry for that matter) is the amount of self-congratulation. Can't believe how much people attach to these awards, when in the scheme of things they are irrelevant.

The only measure of a films success now is how much money it makes.

The Oscars is, to borrow from Mark Latham, an "arselicking effort". Just a group of filthy rich, arrogant snobs telling each other how good they are.

Only interest for me is whether Roman Polanski wins: do they have the guts to give him an Oscar with all the politcal implications that it would bring?

Every mainstream Oscar that you see won next week will have been lobbied for, & will have cost the person/agent/studio/manager many thousands of dollars. This is due to presents, parties etc. thrown for the voting members in your field. It is seen as an investment, & it can mean millions for your future contracts, esp. with actors & directors.

This lobbying can make a real difference if the voting is tight. Example: Rene vs Nicole.

JA didn't get any nomination, and I doubt she'll have much to show anyway... biggrin.gif

I'm thinking Nicole will try and go for the double whammy; get the oscar, and headlines for most clevage shown... smile.gif Besides...it's an aussie thing isn't it??? laugh.gif
