Beaufort Annual Tournament on the Weekend. Back where my golfing journey started.

Friday 4BBB S'ford

Partner was my Brother in law (same as last 10 years)

- Started slowly 18 points on first nine

- Came home like a wrecking ball with 25 points on back nine for 43 total

- NTP on 18th

Well short of the winners with 49 points but played some good golf on the second nine.

Saturday 36 Holes Stroke

Saturday Morning

Had an absolute Barry Crocker in the morning. I reckon I missed 18 putts under 4 feet to have 93-13-80.  My first par was on the 17th hole we played.

Well out of contention for the 36 hole event. Couple beers and beautiful roast lunch then out again.

Saturday Afternoon

Started on 10th hole with birdie lipping out and played much better. Ended with 43 on the first nine after complete stuff up triple on  the 18th then like Friday came home on fire with 37 on the last nine. Ended up with 80-13-67 and got beaten on a countback for the B grade afternoon h'cap.

Sunday 4 person Ambrose

- Agreed to join up with some of the local guys - was the low marker for the group by some distance.  Really struggled - 4 rounds in 3 days is probably a bit much given how much I play at the moment. Think we shot 73 for a 63 nett well off the 56 nett that was needed to take a trophy.

Another great weekend and a permanent fixture on mine and many others calendar. Only the NTP to show for three days of golf and probably a couple of kilos heavier due to the incredible country hospitality (see attached picture).

Another tournament down and dusted. Usually after the tournament the clubs go away again for a while but will be back out for Royal Melbourne next Monday with the brother in law.

Havent posted on here much in the last year because of my 6 month'ish layoff due to shoulder surgery and then the first 6 months of 2019 being very much a period of recovering my game....

As a result I have now slipped out to a GA of 11 and have had only a handful of 30+ stableford scores in the last 6 months.

Last sunday was something that I want to shout from the rooftops about.

Went back to my old club, Kooringal GC, to play the 2019 Kooringal Open Amateur off the Blue Tees.

Ended up shooting an 81 Nett 68 to win the comp.

Possibly the cleanest round of golf I have managed to put together for well over a year.... 11/14 fwys,7/18 greens and 33 putts amounted to 2 doubles, 7 bogeys, 8 Pars and a lone birdie.

I did trend well coming into this weekend with a couple of decent scores at Spring Valley thru April, May and June.... But it was great to be able to put together at a good score in a stroke comp and a course as narrow and effectively long'ish as Kooringal.

Now to re-start my journey back to a single digit h'cap.........maybe??

had a great day today and a very stress free 99 NET 81 in mixed foursomes.(47 / 52)

runner up on a countback for net event.

happy with our score, especially as the ladies hit the even holes so, on some of the long holes like 2, 4, 6, 8 into the wind being on for 4 and 2 putts was a good score.

90 gross was best score which was very good..

Hit a lot of good shots today to keep the team going and made some great putts for bogeys,

finishing 7, 7, 7 cost us.

leaned a lot today about positioning with second shots and leaving approaches short of bunkers to give partner best chip.

breaking 100 really was fun.

So a good weekend of foursomes with 82 / 99 = 181

course was in fantastic condition following the rain yesterday, fairways are firm and lots of bounce and greens are getting back to "normal speed" and lots of carts out on course from social groups,

so it should be really good for the Lang Lang Masters next week.

11/12 and 23pts at The new look Gardiners Run
Shrunken tee markers and some very interesting pins.
Thought I played much better than the score suggests.
Good to be out on the course.

Handicap Pennant at Cobram on the Old Course and was getting 2 shots and played at Number 1. Today was one of those days when the lucky golfer would win and today I was the lucky one and won on the 18th and toc won 4-1.

what have they changed.?

Tee Box Markers are now set up allowing only half the tee box area to be used.

Pin locations are now random, not, front, middle back.

Some of the new pins make for some interesting putts from the middle of the green.

On some of the par 4's from the tee box you are thinking back pin, but it is middle.

No pin yesterday was in the middle of the green, they were all either left or right edge.
