Not being an architecture snob I'm thinking of joining the National. Does anyone know what the going rates are currently for memberships that don't attract annual subs.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the Ocean course.
Do yourself a favour, read Doak's Anatomy of a Golf Course,
if nothing else it will help you play better.

if you're not an archie snob why are you interested in joining a course down there at a high price?
If you live on the peninsular why not join one of the cheapies?

The National would be a good choice, as would many of the cheaper courses down that way.
The only course to avoid would be St Andrew’s Beach, due to their financial situation at the moment.

Cody, I hear the going price is $12K atm. The all up cost thru
the club is $18K.
Andrew, I also hear StA is about a week away from the bank coming
in and taking a stand ?
What else do you know ????????

Is that not the fee for memberships that also have annual subs?
The question asks for the life membership rates. Though I'll
bet the questioner knows the answer already

There is a person in the office at The National who is in charge of the secondary market for share sales. 5988-6666 for all enquiries.
That way, you can get the price and details for the share type you seek. golfguy33, for example, has already given incorrect advice and dollar amounts.

Moe you clearly haven't played all the courses there. Do you usually mouth off about places you've never played? It is by far the premier club in the country, with three outstanding courses and a magnificent clubhouse. It means I can get a game whenever I want and follow it up with a decent feed. There is simply nothing else that compares.

Incorrect oh legendary one, I don't know what they are going for. I'm curious as they should provide a hedge against what I'm told have been rapidly escalating annual subscriptions. It is little wonder the c class (liable for membership subs that GG33 referred too ) shares have been belted given the large increases in the costs of owning one. If they keep going at the rate they are the owners will be paying people to take them off their hands.

Thanks Golfdoc. What were you playing off before you read it?

I live in Sydney so its not really something I would take advantage of and hence seriously consider; however when its out there being offerred at under $10k I have too seriously consdier it!
I mean not that you purchase these shares as a long term financial investment, but at under $10k how much lower can they go over time? If I lived in VIC it would be a no-brainer especially compared to what people were paying 3-4 years ago.

Moe,
Enlighten us all. How did you go on Moonah and Ocean? Was it any better than the 100+ you had off the blues on Old???

Jack,
I would but you appear to already have it taken. Then again you like living 30 years in the past with golf courses so porn from that era probably fits in with the theme.
